I found the 2008 H2 that is the "one" for me... low miles, "subtle" paint, chrome, non-air rear suspension (not sure on that one)...

Handshake deal in place...

Thanks for the help,

1st- Congrats Bob

I hope you atleast put down a deposit.
These days dealers aren't good for their word unless you have it on paper or atleast a deposit.

"subtle paint"?
was it the black one you're were considering?

do you have some pics of the truck? (from any advertised listing)

Here she is...

2008 H2, Slate Blue Metallic, Luxury Package, Moon Roof, Navi, RSE, Corsa exhaust tips...

Maybe too much chrome...

Maybe too much trim matching the body paint...

But maybe not...

Comments welcomed. I meet here on Friday. One of my twin boys calls every H2 that he sees "Daddy Truck". I think that is cool. So far one neighbor thinks it is ugly. Thanks dude.

Looks nice! A tad too much chrome for me, but to each their own and it's what you like not what others like that matters. You're going to love her! I've had Hummers for over 5 years now and it's still a thrill every time I get in and drive her. If you tackle mud, water and snow with it, you're really going to love it; and on the highway with the family on a vacation it's hard to beat. Kids love Hummers and every time we go to one of my grandsons baseball or soccer games, one of the players wants to ride in Grandpa Ws Hummer. Get used to the love it/hate it styling - my sister-in-law thinks Hummers are the ugliest vehicles on the road (that was until I took her to the ER during a snow storm). Get used to being labeled as the man with the Hummer. When I go to the bait shop or gas station, it's not how's your wife and kids, it's how's that Hummer doing.

Bob,

It looks like you're buying from Sewell Hummer.
Is that right?

I'm guessing by the sticker on the windshield- Sewell has that PREOWN sticker on all their inventory.

I've owned my rig for 1.5 years now & I still love it like it's brand new.

If it's Sewell- they are very reputable. Feel confident they will do you right.

Bob,

It looks like this rig that Sewell is still listing on eBay:

Is this your truck?

Don't sweat the small stuff. You found a 2008 and managed to swing a deal you can live with. That's the important thing and the only part that matters. The accessories can be changed if that's what you want. Give yourself time to figure out what you want to keep and what you want to change. That's the fun part.

If I had $15,000 burning a hole in my pocket I would want to pop for a 2008. The best part is so would the wife. :)

Sewell is a class dealership to deal with. You can't go wrong dealing with them.

Had two Slate Blues, great color. Would have got a third but they stopped making it. So got the silver ice LE. Nice rig, you will be happy with it.

That turned out to be really true! Sewell Cadillac in Dallas had the truck and worked closely with Sewell Hummer to get accessories as needed. I wish there was a Sewell dealership in Arizona...

I really love the truck and really got close to it on the drive from Dallas to Phoenix yesterday/yesternight and this morning. Time for sleep now.

There is alot of chrome on her and that might change. On a flat section of the drive with little traffic I was able to average 15 MPG. On more normal highway I was at 14 MPG. Around town so far about 12MPG. Better than I expected. Dashboard Average Economy reading....

Just curious...what was your average speed when you were getting the 14MPG?

I get 14-15 @ 70ish, assuming there is no wind. Keep in mind I live in the flatlands of North Dakota too :o

edit: based on the dash info center

Good question. The best mileage (15) was at 70 MPH, no traffic, and pretty flat. It doesn't seem like you can go much above that speed and still get good mileage based on my limited experimentation (I drove 1200 miles yesterday through today).

2008 engine too remember...

Dashboard Average Economy reading for MPG...

Here in the SE, if you drive 70 mph, you'll get run over! At 80 mph, I average 13 mpg. That was in the 06. Have no idea what I'll get in the 09. Lots of mod; gears, tires, supercharger, etc..

I don't ever get 15 mpgs or 14.

Are you looking at the display stating "MPG" ?

That thing is never an accurate measure of mpg.

I also have 2008 but mine is w/17" factory rims.

BOB,

Love your truck. I had a question about the painted trim pieces.

I heard (from a local Hummer body shop) that if you tried to paint the black molding trim pieces, it will eventually flake off. Did you ask Sewell if it came painted? or if they painted it?

Anyone else know or have 1st hand experience on this?

How many miles was the drive back to Phoenix?

dvl57,

It was 1051 miles from Dallas to Phoenix, we took a bit of a detour on I-30 east for awhile until we realized we have to go west to get home. Dohh... in all it was about 1200 miles with that "little" detour included. We left at Sewell at 1pm and got home at 7:30am. An hour getting across Dallas at Friday rush hour was below average at about 20 MPH. Trip average was 58.5 MPH including time spent eating/gassing/peeing. You definitely fall in love or hate with a vehicle on a trip like that. I love this one...

It appears that the original owner had the pieces painted and most of the work was done at Sewell. The color match is great but I think that it will eventually flake off based on my quick inspection. When eventually is? Who knows? I am a little concerned about it, but not too much as there is little that I can do about it now. I can hopefully replace those pieces if that time comes. I intend to drive this thing for a LONG time...

Congrats! You're going to love it. The '08s and '09s do a lot more shifting with the 6 speed and have a higher top gear which gives a little better mileage than the pre '08s. I have a friend with an '09 who averages 13.5 combined. I was dubious, so he Emailed me a pic of his lie-o-meter saying 13.5. i noticed no comment on rocks and the windshield. When I take my Hummer on a long highway trip, the windshield seems to attract rocks from wheels and trucks. No starrring on the last two trips to Dillon, CO but a few small chips each time.

Congrats! You'll love the truck.
I drove 400 miles to pick mine up in Dallas too....but the drive was fun on the way home -
