Hi...I'm in the market for an 08 or newer H2 SUT that I intend to use for my business.

My vehicle would see very little if any off road time...been there, done that...not very interested anymore. I'm looking for a very clean highly modded black vehicle that would look great representing a high tech photography business.

I'd like to know if the tonneau cover leaks and if anyone has installed a storage vault and how well it has worked out for them.

I prefer the look of the SUT, although I admit the SUV might be more practical for my needs. I carry photography gear and on occasion very large prints (the extra Midgate storage length in an SUT is a plus).

How practical is removal of the rear spare...if removed, how do you resolve tire issues while on the road? I prefer the clean look, although a great looking spare hanging off the back end is not too shabby.

I would like to add wider tires, deep dish wheels and flares to cover the package. What would you recommend for high quality flares?

I'm also interested in headers, exhaust, intake and in potentially supercharging the 6.2L...has anyone had good or bad experiences with this type of mod...I haven't found any info on supercharging the 6.2L on a Hummer...any tranny issues?

I recently joined this site and I've done a number of site searches for answers to the above questions...I found very little if any info to help me out...

Thanks in advance for your help!

Well to start I dont own a sut but a suv h2 but can give some pointers. All the engine mods will do just fine on the h2. Now with supercharging you'll be alright, but down the road with any other car all that power going through the drivetrain will cause things to go bad faster than usual because of the stress it puts on it.
Spare tire they have kits to remove the spare tire. If you do this you will have no where to put it.
The flares you can find at several after market websites including somo i believe.
If you get a sut with air ride you will have a problem putting wider tires on because it will screw with the air sensors on the back wheel and has been know to break them if you have a tire wider than 12.5. the biggest tire you can fit stock with out doing a lift is 37x12.5.

As far as room with the sut is about the same with the suv. You have to fold the seats down in the suv just like the sut. You just dont have a truck bed.

Hope this helps!

I have an SUT with the tonneau cover. If it's parked in a heavy rain I get a shot glass or two of water in the back, but on the highway in the rain, I get very little water. I wouldn't store electronics or paper documents back there.
My two cents worth on supercharging, is that this is not a hot rod but a purpose built vehicle. The '08 and '09 have plenty of power. As for tires there was a long article in 4 wheeler magazine years ago about the months and even years of testing, Hummer did to come up with that tire and suspension geometry. If you use the search feature, you should be able to find it, but as I remember over 1000 hours of testing went into the suspension and tire selection for the H2. A lot of it done by AM General, people who really know their stuff. If you are going to offroad it, go with more aggressive tires, but having had them, I can say they will wear faster than OEM, make noise, and affect your handling.
