OK her is my rant for year. I purchsed what I thought was the perfect H2 for me in August. It is an '07 with 15,120 miles, Luxury Package, and Teal in Color. I loved the stares due to not only the unusual color but the standard how can you sleep at nite driving that gas guzzler while I drive my plastic (derived from petroleoum products) prius.
Everything went great for just two days under 30 of ownership when I took it to the GM Dealer, where I purchased, because the check engine light was on. By the end of the day they had diagnosed the problem to be plugged catalytic converters and I am still waiting for them to get the parts to put me back on the road. They claim that GM Corporate did a search and found no cats available anywhere in the nation so they had to order from the OEM.
I swear I must be stupid or at least have it tattooed on my forehead cause I cannot believe that all of those parts just disappeard when they started closing dealerships and stopped manufacturing less than a year ago.
Well that is my rant and thanks for reading. I sure hope to be out there enjoying my Hummer again with all of you.

There may be a little more to the story than having to source from the OEM supplier. With the bankruptcy filing in fact most of the Hummer parts were in GM facilities that were under court control and even the on-going GM facilities and personnel could not get parts out of the warehouses under court control. I know someone who has spent the better part of the past year just trying to resolve this issue for GM. So, most dealers simply source from the OEM supplier because they can't afford to spend the time and effort to get it from GM.

Dude...I went to buy some replacement interior trim for my '05 when I got it Line-Xed and the GM dealer (that used be a Hummer/Corvette performance dealer) sent me to vintageparts.com! I laughed out loud...VINTAGE PARTS....so, I went online and ordered my parts.
What I received was a GM part, in a GM box...exactly like the original. I get the impression the GM liquidated a lot of their parts stock during the bail-out.
This comment may be a little 'political'...but I don't care where I've got to order my parts...where I've got to find my parts...I love my truck and I am glad that GM still exists. GM made mistakes...but you know what, so do we all. I'm just happy that they're still around.
Check out vintageparts.com...they prolly have what you're looking for. :)

Actually with GM's bankruptcy, alot of the suppliers went out of business. GM has had to find new sources to produce the parts. With that, they have to get a contract with the new vendor, submit samples and then the part is made. It is a long drawn out ordeal. Alot of the GM cats are on backorder right now. It has nothing to do with the Hummer brand. Yes some of the Hummer parts are a problem. But the are getting new vendors to make the parts. I waited 10 months for a trim panel. The only parts that you will be able to get through vintage parts, are parts that are discontinued through GM. GM has sold them the parts for pennies on the dollar.

really unusual for a cat to go bad with such low mileage. It's my understanding the cat converters are covered under warranty for 80,000 miles. If GM can't supply their own I would make them buy and install some one else's or at least pay for the part and labor

Thanks for all of your feedback. The issue is that this is a warrenty part so I must wait for them to source original otherwise they can renig if anything goes wrong in the future. I understand the bankruptcy and how that may affect things but I also remember my hard earned tax dollars being used by Obama to guarantee warrentees. Guess that promise did not include ensuring an availability of parts.

Thanks for the information hummerpartsman. I called the service technician and he said he was waiting for a call back from GM and hoped to have good news after that call. I told him that I had heard on a forum that the parts are available in Flint and that made him pause. Hope to hear parts are on the way by the end of the day or someone will have some splaining to do.
