View Full Version : LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!

We have a 2011 JK as well..lifted 4" with 35s and it barely gets 14 mpg..no one will ever talk **** about it. Not to mention the straight axle rides like ****, it's underpowered, and it doesn't have any of the amenities that my H2 has. Don't get me wrong I love the jeep. But it is no different than my H2. Oh and with 38" in tires I am getting 12 mpg on the hwy..11.5 or so around town with full time 4wd.

What a freakin tool..and this is why you're a sh!tty comedian. This is the best material he could come up with.
...did anyone else notice that he had no audience?
Man, they just don?t know me... I ran a brand new Honda Accord into the woods and got called into the police dept when I lived up at the lake because a guy wouldn?t get over out of the left lane so I drove him into the woods.
I pushed a guy with my truck when he wouldn?t get out of the left lane.
I don?t mess with people, I respect the fact that they want to go under the speed limit or don?t drive the way I do but fuk with me, I won?t think twice about pushing you into the Goddammm ditch.
Asswipes....
I really feel ya on this. I do my best to honor the 'social contract' when driving, but when the same courtesy is PURPOSELY not returned...ah well, that's what pisses me off.
While I've never run anyone off the road (but don't get me wrong, I don't think I'm above it), I've issued my share of subtle scares. My favorites are the fools that think their gonna stop you from merging. I just keep drifting closer and closer and closer eventually they realize 'oh sh!t, this guy is really not going to stop...and he's got some big fukin tires.' The look of surprise+concern+anger on their face makes me smile a little inside.
Hybrids and mom's in minivans seem to be the violators around my way.

You know what I just realized would look kickazz on your H2... blacking out the grille guard. (IMO)
Truck looks great...
I agree..Porsche made the perfect sports car to me..it may not be the fastest but the engineering in that piece is brilliant. I always told myself if I ever had enough money for a supercar, that's the one I'd get.
You know, I test drove (for 2 hours) a Porsche Cayman Coupe this last summer. Now, by no means am I comparing that to any of the ?supercars? that are listed above but I have to say, Porsche has it right... that car (like most of their cars) is a DRIVER?S car.
The ergonomics, the firmness of the shifter, the handling, comfort of the seat, etc, etc would allow someone to run that car for hours at the track and not be fatigued.
I?m not saying that the other manufacturers aren?t like that (I?ve only driven a couple of gallardos and murcielago so I have no experience in supercars) but I love the way Porsche builds the car around the driver.

I agree with Mark, although I like either way. The chrome looks pretty cool as well. But all black would be pretty awesome. I think eventually I'll put a black OEM guard on mine, just to add to the stormtrooper look.

You ever thought about painting your skid plate? It would match a whole lot better..take it off, sand the mess out of it, and give it a couple of coats of spray on bedliner. It'll look good!

There's a lot of things I've thought about. But not a lot that I actually want to do right now. I want to get the black part re powdercoated. It's starting to chip a bit. But this trucks done for this year.

The one pic looks funny.... your truck is hammered with salt and snow remains yet your front wheel looks brand new... lol.
Great looking truck, that's the only H2 I've seen with dual exhausts that I liked.

Well I drive the truck to the installer through some salty water. He mou Ted and balanced the wheels at his shop after installing the kit. So that explains the clean wheels. The exhaust is the gmpp exhaust. I think borla makes it for gm. It's pretty nice. Has the h2 on the tip.

Oh wow, it looks like you have the same exhaust as I did. In an old post of mine, that you replied to and you didn't even know it! I didn't have the H2 chrome tips on mine so I think that threw you off. How do you like the sound? I only found it a bit louder than the stock exhaust. I'm surprised to hear it is made by Borla because the Borla ones I have heard on youtube sound much louder...

This exhaust was on the truck when I got it 5 years ago. Not sure how a stick hummer even sounds.... Or looks. Yeah borla makes a lot of gmpp exhaust systems. They make it for my Camaro too

Man, the stories you guys tell about running people off the road cracks me up! I am not going to lie, I have run people off the freeway for driving freakin' stupid around me, so I am with you.
The main difference for me is that where I live, there are a ton of trucks, more than cars. With that, instead of getting hated on, I get props and waves all day. On top of that I bet people are popping wood left and right when they see my ride, especially dudes because they all wish they were rocking my ride.
Funny to see people's reactions though when you roll up on them towering over them... I always get people's kids pointing and getting excited when they see my truck, makes me smile. :o
Screw the haters, they just wish they could...

It connects to the rear frame, bolts right up, as there's pre-existing holes to mount to...

Did you have to cut off the diff ear in the front with the Fab Tech? I've contemplated going to a Bulletproof, but was told since the Rancho kit requires the diff ear to be cut off I'd have to switch the axle housing too...

As for the 12" lift - I don't think I would have gone with 12" coming from stock. The 6" was a major lift for a while....but I've had it for 7 years now. It's "stock" to me. You are indeed correct. I misread - Fabtech does cut the differential. But neither Fabtech nor Bulletproof cuts into the frame. Cognito does.

I researched kits thoroughly when I was thinking about lifting and Bulletproof would be the only option. I don't want to hack up the diff or cut into any part of the frame at all. Completely reversible if need be which is a plus.

After 2 H2's and COUNTLESS other vehicles that I have lifted, lowered, tubbed, swapped engines, blah, blah, blah, I have ALWAYS kept the "stock" parts "incase" I put it back to stop to sell it.
I'll be 50 in a few months and in all this time, I have NEVER ONCE put a car back to stock. I always say I will, always keep the parts just in case but when it comes time to sell it, all I end up doing is selling the vehicle as is and offer the new owner the stock parts.
What usually happens.... my shop is stocked full of stock parts from vehicles I'll never see again.

I researched kits thoroughly when I was thinking about lifting and Bulletproof would be the only option. I don't want to hack up the diff or cut into any part of the frame at all. Completely reversible if need be which is a plus.
From the Cognito 10-12" installation instructions:
"Remove the factory crossmember that is bolted in between the rear lower control arm pockets. On the 10 and 12-inch kits, the flange just under the front differential pinion yolk on 4WD models will have to be cut off. Use a
reciprocating saw and stay close to the back of the control arm pocket. On the 7-inch kit, the flange with the back 1 1/2? of the rear lower control arm pocket must be cut off to clear the differential. Retain this piece if desired for future reinstallation."
From the Bulletproof 12" installation instructions:
"Now you have to cut the frame. It?s easier to refer to the pictures below. But basically you want to remove the factory bump stop mount, then slightly cut the lower part of the upper a-arm tabs to allow for clearance of bulletproofs new upper a-arm drop downs. This will also include slightly cutting part of the rear lower a-arm tabs. Please refer to the pictures, so there are no questions."
Neither seem to require that the mounting boss on the differential be cut, which the Fabtech and Rancho require, but saying that none of them require cutting of any kind isn't true.

My Bulletproof kit arrived at the shop yesterday. Fox shocks, gears, steps and exhaust are already done. Just need to finish the lift and get the new tires/wheels on, and it's good to go. Hopefully early next week.
Oh - and check the height. Texas lift laws say max height on the headlights is 54". It's going to be VERY close, otherwise it'll need some more mods. :(

Did you have any issues with the install? How did you find Bulletproof's customer service if you needed to get in touch with them? Did the lift kit include everything you needed for the install? What size tires and any other pictures of the finished lift?
Thanks in advance,

I'm curious too what you're running.
I had a heck of a time finding street-quality tires that will fit (it's my daily driver). The max that Bulletproof recommends is 15.5 without mods, which limits you to Interco, Goodyear, and Pit Bull if you're looking to run anything above 40s. Interco has 44s (Swampers) but the road wear is crap. I have the Goodyear MTRs in 37s and can vouch for their road wear, it's excellent but they don't look very aggressive. I opted to hit the middle (Pit Bull Rockers) in 42s (max size they offer), they look good and supposedly have decent tread wear.

I'm looking at Pit Bulls in 42s also...seemed like a good choice. Now just have to decide on the lift.

Install was straight forward, no welding no cuts. Had to grind a flap on the front end no big deal. CS was good, I had a problem with a bad tie rod. The threads got powder coated and stripped during the install. Brian fabricated and sent me another within 48hours. Most complete straight forward kit I have seen. Only thing I needed were stock coils for the rear to convert, I had the garbage air ride. Life time warranty on all Bulletproof parts regardless of abuse. Going to throw a 12 on my Silverado HD here in a few months. I'm running 40 interco m16 on 24 inch BMF. I drive this everyday and I could not imagine going bigger on tires. Im waiting on a photoshoot, haven't had the time. Glad I went with the 12 on 40s, it is perfect would not want it any other way.

Whole crap that looks good. I REALLY like that.
One question though... how do the pitbull rockers drive on the highway? That was my choice but they didn't make them in radials at our sizes and wasn't sure how the bias was going to take the road at highways speeds.
Great job!

They ride fantastic. To the point I was on the brake most of the way because I couldn't keep it under the speed limit, they ride that smooth - I didn't feel like I was going that fast! You gotta have them trued, tho - anything over 38". My 37s weren't trued and this ride is so smooth compared to what I used to drive. They are loud, tho. Stereo can fix that. :)

The keys were added with the lift, so I couldn't tell you how they fit with just the rancho. But I believe they'd do just fine, there's other members on here who have run just the 4" kit with 38's and had no issues. I've been very pleased with the kit thus far, however, if I were to do it again I'd go atleast 7". (But that's just me wanting more ;)) and the wheels are 20x10 in a -24 offset.

Its all GM. Family is family, nothing you can do about it. Hate on the imports.

Update! .. Finally installed!!.. Magnaflow dual exhaust and K&N cold air intake!!..Not only does it sound and look mean as hell now, but I've noticed a considerable amount of HP/torque increase compared to the stock pieces

Look good! can you hear your exhaust now over your tires?:clapping: If mine are loud I KNOW yours are uber loud, used to have those.

Ha. Yes actually I can.. It's just loud enough. I didn't want a overly loud obnoxious exhaust, but loud enough to make its presence know when you step on the gas pedal... I had a set of 35's Trailgrapplers on 22 Rockstars for about a month before switching up to the 40" Mudgrapplers and yes there is a noise difference, but honestly it's not much louder and actually rides better with the fatter wheels and tires ( and looks better )..

So the DemonGuard finally came back from powder coating and forum member HUFFADDER drove up from ATL to pick it up. Snapped some pics with our very dirty rigs and just wanted to share them. His H2 looks freaking sick after everything that he's been planning for a year came together.
He promised to make a thread for his rig from beginning to end with pics so that will come soon. He's got top notch stuff in it and it's truely one of the best and coolest Hummers that I have ever seen.
Here are some pics of his DemonGuard on his truck after install.
Thanks Jason!:beerchug:

Now, when I go offroading you can't even see the black......... I think I have some pics of that somewhere lol

I want to put a 6" fabtech lift on my 06' H2 with 20x10 rims and 38x13.5 TOYO MT's.
My garage opening is the problem, it's narrow but tall. Is anyone running the above setup that can give me the total width up front?
Thanks,
Joe

How close are you now? It will widen the track and the tires will stick out a little more, but it won't be a massive difference. Atleast mine wasn't.

Fixing to throw down on some new wheels and tires. 37's. Thinking about a leveling set up. Then when the tranny tires out, duramax allison. Figure why spend 40k on an 80k mile 08. Just spend 35 and go diesel with 40's.

Yes, I sold my SUT with the same exterior and interior color the same month I bought the "new" one. The one I sold had over 60,000 miles on it and no lift.

I got ya! Some day I'd love to own a yellow SUT along side my SUV. The yellows seem hard to find. Not too sure why though.
