View Full Version : 2008 Black on Black, 37" Toyo & Venetti 24" Wheels

I just picked this up last week. Thought I'd share and get some opinions too...

I originally bought it because of the low mileage (15k). At first I really didn't like the rims, they reminded my wife and I of an old wagon wheel from the early days... He told me over the phone the tires and rims were worth $15k. I didn't believe it until I looked them up and seems like they might be...

Anyway, they look much better and meatier looking in person and are starting to grow on me. They are Venetti 24" wheels with Toyo 37x13.50r24LT. I personally wouldnt of chose them if I had to from scratch, but since they came on the truck and I didnt really pay any extra for them, that's fine...

It also has a really beautiful suede head liner, that supposedly cost $7k to do. Its hard to capture on camera though,... I'll try again later...

I always chromed out my past H'2s and I now realize that I like a more blackened look. I don't like all black, just yet anyway, still like a bit of chrome here and there... So the only thing I am gonna do at this point is just put on some roof racks that I painted bedliner black. I don't know why he just had the roof handles on there by themselves, look a bit out of place I think...

I think all in all though he did a really nice job on it, not too overdone...

Not bad looking, but I do agree that the wheels look a little bit like a wagon. Look at it this way, if they are worth so much, take them off and sell them. Even if you get half of what they are worth, you could get yourself a much better looking setup easy for both wheels (20's) and tires (37's). Just my opinion, but really nice purchase though!

Yes that's what I was thinking too. I like your black Rockstars, those would be probably be one of my choices. It's weird, it seems like almost everyone on here has Rockstars, but I have never seen an H2 in person with them on:)...

The aftermarket tire/wheel thing is a bit new to me, I have kept the stock rims on my past 5 H2's. When you mention to go with 20" wheels, I am curious, do my 24"s look a bit, is "ghetto" a proper word?..... Link below;)

I like it..beautiful truck btw! Apparently that set is the real deal for 15K! Now lift it! :)

No, I don't think they are ghetto, they definitely look good. The only issue is when you get to those bigger wheels, they usually do not come out enough to put bigger tires on them. Being that you are already rocking 37's thought, I think you are good to go. I went with the black rockstars because I love the look and the chrome couldn't cut it since I have been out here where it snows. This is the third set of wheels I have had on my truck and I really wish I could have gone with the 22" Rockstars or the 24"s like Bimmer here on the forum. His rockstars are so huge the look sick. Either way, these have been my fav wheels yet that I have had, plus I can fix scuffs with flat black spray paint (Bonus!).

I just feel bad that you would have that much money sitting under your truck, just scary thinking that someone could come along and rip them off or something. On top of that, think of all the accessories that $15K could buy- new wheels, tires, lift, lights, the whole schabang:excited:

i dont think those are a 15K wheel...but it does look nice. i had custom 22's made for my camaro and they only ran me 5K. if those were HRE's...they might come close to 15k with tires...at retail price....but who pays retail anymore?

Are you sure that's an '08? I thought the '08-09s had the clean grille (no HUMMER).

02-07-2012, 09:26 PM
he has the GM chicklet badge....my 07 doesnt have it. plus his lower bumper is grey...but your right, the 08+ is supposed to have the H U M M E R under the grill...not on it like the 07-

those are some weird looking roof racks too....

02-07-2012, 09:45 PM
Someone prolly just swapped the grill to get the body colored model. As long as you swap both upper and lower I think all the clips line up.

It was just weird, I Googled "37 Toyo & Venetti 24 Wheels" to get more info on his rims ('cause they just seemed ridiculously expensive to me) and I ran across this link about a guy with an '05 with the same tires and rims: http://flashoffroad.com/H2/performance/H2performance.htm

It just seemed a bit 'unlikely' that someone else had the exact same $15k tire/rim setup...
...obviously business is slow today, and I'm a little bored.

EDIT: Those aren't racks...they're handles. I've got a couple sets on mine...they come in real handy when I trying to climb up during bath time (not that I dish out too many bath times in my driveway) or to load gear topside.

hmm I didn't know the differences in the grills. The interior and DMV title are both '08, but you had me worried for a second! lol

My other '08 H2 does say HUMMER under the front grill and has a different honeycomb pattern on it. Looks like he did put an under '07 grill on it... I'll post both pics in a few...

Also yes, they are roof handles and the wife just bedlined the roof rails black and put them on;) I'll post a pic of that too...

I did find some similar Zenetti wheels though, they were very close and looked to be either a newer or older model, I couldn't tell,,, but the price on them was around $2,250 each.. So I guess times 5 with the Toyos, it bring it to $15k, even,,, nice!... I am starting to convince myself now that I like them more;)

I was also hoping that maybe someone would recognize the H2 here. I would love to talk to the original owner. He originally bought it out of NY and went straight to Hawaii up until a few months ago...

WOW, sorry for the mixup, what a freakin idiot I am,, the rims are Zenetti, NOT Venetti !!! The Venetti look to be a much cheaper version.... Sheesh a whole thread of embarassment :twak: :raar:

...the rims are Zenetti, NOT Venetti !!!
That makes more sense...I stumbled on the Zenetti site and the center caps looked similar. Funny!

I agree with some of the other guys though...if they're even close to $2000+ per rim, I'd put those suckers on ebay and use the money to do some mods. Even if you do a 'blue light,' 50%-off sale on them, $7,500 can get you a lot of nice mods (or 1/3 of a DMax conversion...LOL!).

Either way, you've got a nice couple of trucks.

wow cool, nice find, thank you! I have been searching for so long on those. Looks like the price for the 24" are $626. All of the sudden I am not liking the rims again. lol... Well I am guessing, err hoping, they are a really old model now and maybe they were once going for much more...

LOL...I couldn't find any reference to them ever being made in 8-lug though. Perhaps the previous owner had Zenetti do a custom set...I did see some info alluding to Zenetti doing this kind of work and that would account for the higher price tag. Dunno.

They don't look bad on a black truck...a little skinny like wagon wheels, but hey, whatever.

600 a wheel sounds about right for those....i was gonna say...if someone paid 2K per wheel for those...he doesnt know much about anything.

Oh....:twak: "shame on the dude for asking the question, "are you sure its an 08":raar: We should revoke his "Hummer Expert" tag under his name and replace it with newbie:giggling:

It's still cute how you try to provoke me. Soon I'll be able to start a thread devoted to your snide little remarks.

Don't be mad that you weren't perceptive enough to notice the pre-08 grill.

I'll take full responsibility for starting the rim wars.. lol... I decided to keep them anyway, I do like em...

That mini is about the most opposite of the H2 that you can get... Had her for a month, didn't really like the color, and just traded her and the other stock '08 H2, towards a new 2012 Callaway Carbon Flash Metallic Vette with the black rims. Hope to be getting it next Thursday. It's weird, I disliked black rims a few weeks ago...

Anyway, here's one more final pic outta the garage... in case anyone still cares...

Will do... At the very end of the Superbowl, they gave one out to Eli Manning, a triple black convertible, non callaway... Those GM peeps know how to run those ads, it sold me anyway. I haven't had a Vette in like 20 years. I've been driving boring cars for way too long now, and the midlife crisis has fully kicked in lately...

It's weird saying thanks, Its like I originally was posting pics of this other guys H2 and just getting opionions on it. It still doesn't feel like it's mine because of the modifications that I would of never chosen to do. It's just really not the same as when I bought one new.., I'm sure someone here who bought a custom one knows what I mean? It's kinda like when you're walking your dog and someone says "nice dog" and you say "thanks"... Well you didn't really make the dog, you feel kinda dumb saying thanks... ok at least I do, but I am neurotic... I think that's the word...

So also good timing on asking for more pics. I was just having a disagreement with the wife on posting pics here. She said "thats enough you're being a show off". I agree a tad, but.. #1, I really don't feel like it's my truck still, #2, I want to get opionions, #3, we did hopefully solve the $15 thousand dollar question, and #4, guys like to see their damn pics, wether it's girls or cars, doesnt matter how good or bad they look, they are all just different...

I actually just put some vent shades on it too, and told her as simple as it is, that I bet peolpe want to see an updated pic now. I know I would, that's how I figured out what I liked and disliked for mods on my past H2's... So I might just post one more, then I'm done;)

Cool you posted that pic, the wife turned, understands now, and wants to see more, she loves it! lol.. I am not a fan of ground effects but the new Camaro looks so much better with them than not. The flames are a nice touch too rather than the boring white stripes,,, the rims,,, and the motor of course! Damn, it desn't matter that he is done, he did a great job, I don't think I would change anything on that one,, That's really the nicest one I have seen!

If he paid $8K for that he's an idiot...I've been quoted $1K by one of the best interior shops in Denver so I was curious what others had paid. At least you got to reap the rewards of his work. I'd black out the other stuff too though...some interior dye on the push tabs and overhead console to finish it off.

I thought the same thing but some people are that stupid...lol. Like you said, at least he benefits because for that price, he got a killer deal.
