So as most of you know I've changed my gauge face and needles along with adding LED's behind the face. After setting the needles post install everything has been fine for months. Then all of a sudden Sunday morning leaving work I notice my oil pressure, volts, and temp gauge are all running high.

I'm thinking what the hell, turn the truck off and notice ALL the needles have jumped up a bit throwing everything off. I have since been driving it and the cluster works fine but for some reason all the needles came off the zero mark when turned off.

Here's a couple pics:

It's highly annoying because it was a PITA to get the needles exact when I reinstalled the new ones now I'll probably be going through all that again.

Any ideas on all of a sudden they would jump up? If a stepper was going bad I would think just that individual needle would act crazy but in this case ALL of them did it.

Thanks in advance!

Oh god don't say that with all the horror stories I've read in the past about these things....

I busted the cluster opened and reset all the needles, hopefully this doesn't happen again!

My guess.........................voltage spike in the instrument panel system or in the vehicle.

Thanks guys, I reset the needles last night and they've been fine since. Apparently another member on a different forum said his have done the same thing since replacing the face and needles. Why I have no clue, its not like anything component wise was changed.

The face is on ebay for about $45 now and the needles are dirt cheap! Pick up a set and throw it in.

I don't have the soldering skills to put all those LED's on the circuit board. It takes a steady hand and a good amount of patience to do that and make it look good not just work correctly.

When I was in school, the industrial arts were the classes the boys enrolled in (wood & metal shop). Electronics/computers were juuuuuust coming into style as I was graduating. I recall seeing the first computer system called Commodore 64. Then, well.........you know the rest.
