Picked up the GF for a lunch date and she said the front passenger tire looked a little low. I ignored her because she was a woman, and what do they know about tires. Well, sure enough a couple hours later, it was flat. I'm talking flatter than I make it when I go offroading. Those suckers are really great tires. Virtually no air, and they support the truck like magic. Those BFG boys are smart cookies. Luckily I was at home when I noticed because I never carry my spare. Boy those nuts are on tight from the factory... Anyway, I guess the point is I thought those BFGs were invincible, but i guess not. Time to get a spare tire carrier...

"she was a woman"

The legal and politically correct term for your girlfriend is "Transgender". The San Francisco Gay Pride Parade is now "San Francisco Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Parade." It is important to cover everyone with equal billing.

You also said "boy" and "nuts" in the same sentence...who are you, Michael??? A little Freudian-slip maybe?? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Just kidding....

Did you check the tire to see what might have caused it??? You never know when a "tree hugger" may put a screw in your tire.

I think this should make my "old" friend PhilD happy. I had the first nail in Hummer tire. My Hummer is no longer perfect!!!!

I checked the tires before leaving for ski resort on Thanksgiving Day, one RF tire had only 25 Ibs and I found a big nail. Looks like something that has been there for at least days or weeks. On our way out we stopped by a gas stations, all the machanics were off. Disappointed that usual hard working people would take off on a weekday, Thanksgiving or not. We went on our way and back, with that big nail, only lost 2-3 Ibs. Got it fixed today, $15.

Life is full of surprises, big ones and small ones. This was a tiny surprise.

I've also had a flat on my H2, but it was the dreaded mesquite thorn that got me.
Those mesquite thorns could just about go thru kevlar if you hit it the right way!

For those of you not familiar with mesquite thorns, come on over and go wheeling with me, and I'll show you how tough they are! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

As for me being a pussy, so what http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Those things are tight and took a lot of me jumping on the damn tool to loosen. screw you guys, I'm going home...

Flat tires are no big deal, happened to me many times in other vehicles. Except in this case the risk is a bit higher, I took the spare tire out a year ago and it stays in the garage. I have a complete tire repair kit in the back, never opened, I certainly hope there is an instruction booklet inside that plastic case. I suddenly realized I don't have anything to pull the nail out if I have to do it myself roadside, better look into this matter fast. According to my wife, the gas station guy didn't even lift the Hummer, which is a relief to me. Guess you just pull the nail and in goes the repair stuff. Having air pump in my Hummer certainly makes me feel better.

Few years ago I picked up a friend at his hotel to go to a dinner banquet, soon after we left the hotel, it started pouring rain and we had a flat about the same time, right next to a pitch dark SF Zoo. Both guys were in tuxedos, in an open top Mercedes SL sportscar. The SL automatic top is fast but sure seemed like it took 1 hour to close the top. Since it was my car, I was duty-bond to change the tire, I also insisted on doing it myself, no sense in getting both guys dirty. My friend, a former SR-71 pilot insisted on standing in heavy rain with me. I did the change in record short time, proved I work well under pressure. We had dinner at the Big 4 Restaurant on Nob Hill few weeks ago, had a good laugh about it. Memory and friendship.

Speaking of BFG's, I picked up a nail once....bent the nail to hell but never penetrated the tire...now that is some tough treads!
