View Full Version : Your opinion on the worth of my H2

Hi All:
Due to some unforseen circumstances, it looks like I will be selling the H2 and getting something much cheaper at the moment. In your opinion, what should I be able to get from a dealer, and conversely, from a private party right now? 2005 fully loaded (except Nav.) with 9300 miles. $10,000 in accessories (I know these won't bring much from a dealer), including Rancho lift, Gobi rack, 37'' MTR's, HD brushguard/valence, etc. And no, the accessories aren't for sale unless you can come and pick them up. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Of course, anyone wanting to take over my payments of $750.00 per month for the next 39 months is also welcome.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Sadly your H2 will only appeal to a small, but dedicated, group of H2 buyers due to the aggressive upgrades. The wheels, lift, "Blacked Out Look", etc will actually reduce its value to many prospective buyers. Even if you were able to wait indefinitely until just the right buyer comes along you would do well to recover even 30% of the value of any accessories. Good luck, I hope you get top dollar. I know you don't want to hear it but Autotrader has some '05 H2s listed for less than $50K.

I forgot to mention that it's a Smartlease. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
With the GM employee pricing program going on right now, all of the dealers in my area are shying away from them until they see what this program does to the used vehicle market. Right now, the highest they have offered is $45,000 (with all accessories). http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

That's too bad man, sorry to hear that.
Whenever you are ready to part with those accessories keep me posted! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
It's gonna be your only way to get some value. That lift would look purdy on my truck.

Bummer you have to sell that rig. Maybe slap some GI JOE advertisements on the side and they might pay you to drive it? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I'd sell those accessories separate though. Very nice rig, sorry to see it go.

Ken,
ASAP.
Also, yes, I did consider trying http://www.leasetrader.com. The problem is, it may be hard to get rid of these add-ons considering the lift would have to be taken off, reboxed, shipped, etc. Also, the rack would be almost impossible to ship, as well as the brushguard.

your stuck in the lease, only 2 ways to go. Let the lease go and ruin your credit or make a cut in another place. your gonna take a bath, value of rig 44-46 dealer if you can find one who wants it. the buyout on the lease is probally well over 50 something?. Can you work with the dealer on sticking you into something cheaper and rolling the lease loss into it? GM dealer?

SOCRATES, I'm sorry to hear that my favorite SUV has to part from it's owner! That sucks man! What about trying to get someone to advertise on the side of it to cover the payments... if that's the issue. What about the Viper? Didn't you have one of those too?
I know you could sell all of those accessories easily. PM if you would like any help with that part.
Good luck,
Tim.

Soc,
Sorry to hear this, Tim made a good point on the advertising! I hate to think of all the work you put into that truck going towards someone elses enjoyment, so my feelings lean towards figuring out a way to keep it. As for the lease, I got out of my '03 lease and into my '05 with very little problem, only 18 months into a 60 month lease. If you plan on getting into a different car from the same dealership, they SHOULD be able to help you out, and it then becomes an issue of if they want to. I would be willing to try and help, but somehow shipping a rig from FL to CA doesn't seem economical http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for all of the support, guys. I made a deal yesterday for $45,000. Believe it or not, this was about $2,000 more than 5-6 dealerships that I spoke with in the surrounding area were offering. The dealer buyout was $50,000, so I lost the $5,000 plus the money I had in the accessories. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif They did admit that the lift was a big part of the decision, as they didn't want to take a chance with it due to warranty issues, etc.
No laughing, but I traded for a Scion xB. I needed something cheap right now that I can still haul stuff around in while I'm having my new home built in the Tampa area. It just fit the bill as far as my needs right now and I won't take a huge hit on the depreciation.
Tim,
Yes, the Viper is also for sale, unfortunately. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif The bright side is I should be able to recover in a year or two after the house is built, and I hope to have another H2 (or Viper) at that time, if things continue as they have been lately.
Best Regards,
-Justyn
