Just had my driver's seat leather replaced, the seat portion. I don't have a hummer dealer here in the area to compare, but the leather seams different from the rest of the leather in the vehicle. Does anybody know if they changed to a better leather later, or do I just have to wait for it to wear down. It seems like it doesn't have the slight "shine" that the old leather has... I have an '03 if that helps...

I could ask the dealer that did the install...but they don't know jack about the hummer. They're a chevy dealership...

Lastly, I might have to have them replace the steering wheel also...it appears they scratched/damaged it while doing the replacement of the seat.

Doc, about a year ago I bought a complete "base" H2 interior for $100.00. Back then the base model came with a vinyl/cloth combo that looked exactly like leather but didn't wrinkle and fade. Bottom line, GM leather sucks. I've seen one year old Denali's, Escalades and Corvette interiors with trashed leather. This is true especially on the outer seat cushion of the driver.
I should have kept those seat covers but I sold them for a profit on Ebay. Those were NOT covers that went over the upholstery. That was the upholstery. My H2 with only 18K mile is showing wear, despite the fact that I use leather wipes on it weekly.
Well, there's always katzkins.

I had a chance to check out McCann Hummer over there in Fife over the wknd. Have you seen the black leather they're using now? Much nicer and softer...I wonder if that hold up better overall...
Side note, they said their testing course should be done next month sometime..

The black would wear better. Check out your seat, only the seating surface is leather and rest is vinyl but you really can't tell the difference.

I take offense to the GM bashing going on http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I have a 1998 Cadillac and the leather looks great! Since GM seems to be selling Hummer and Cadillac at the same dealership maybe some of the quality will transfer into the Hummers http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif It's seems that there were some quality issues in the 03 H2's (not unusual for the first year). I am very pleased with mine so far and hope that the newer models have made improvements.
