This seems kinda kewl.

First let me tell you I only have been running 87 octane with each and every fill up, and temps were NOT constant…nor were AC usage or drag with windows, towing…well you get the idea.

I only have a few choices when I fill up, but here is what I have found so far:

Mobil
Texaco
Shell
Citco
Sunoco
Gulf
*GOGO GAS - surplus fuel *crappy I am told*

When I fill up, I am usually near dry…so as little mixing is going on as possible, but I have found that when I fill up I get better MPG when I run Mobil fuel in the truck. So I have been running Mobil all the time. I am probably the only weirdo that has been doing this…but has anyone else tried it?

I know this is not a PERFECT test...but I would like to try it in a controlled environment.

I read somewhere that gas is gas and it all comes from the same refineries. Not sure if that's true.

I would think so too rodster. I would think these people would buy from a wholesale fuel supply. *dunno*

I think I can offer an explaination as to why you are getting different results with the different fuels.....

Maybe you have some deep seated sexual attraction to Mobil and subconsciously your driving habits improve while using it.

Then, when you fill up with Go-Go dancer gas, your rage induced hatred for them causes you to subconciously mash the gas pedal causing you to get worse results.

Without knowing more about you this is only a theory. I would really have to do a full personality work up on you to get to the root of this gas anomaly.

I here the "taste test" is really the way to check out your theory. Just don't do it around an ignition source! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Mmmmm - regular! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif That reminds me of the things I heard about people sucking fuel from cars in the 70's.

When I had my Texaco, my fuel came from the same Chesapeake plant as the gas for the local Citgos. Go figure... I paid more. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

The results of all of the fuel experiments I conducted led me to one conclusion........it's cheaper to fly everywhere than drive my H2. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
