There is help. Call your housing authority for advise. If your in laws have a lease they have rights! Even if they don't if they paid their rent for the month they have recourse.
There is also free legal help for tenants. Look in your phone book under gov...

UUMMMMMMM...isn't that the time TO BUY? Surely you're not waiting for the prices to go back up..then decide to buy. You said you moved in to save money, hell sale the Hummer, buy a bike (or take the bus to work), get your finances straight, then splurge. I think I'd live in a tent, or on the streets before I'd ask to live with my parents, or in-laws...regardless the situation. Just my .0000001

Agreed...although the tent or street being fricken cold might motivate me to find a place. Although I can imagine letting a parent or parent-in-law live with us after their spouse has passed...you know, to take care of them if they have a hard time taking care of themselves. Or maybe something temporary in the event of a fire or disaster for friends or relatives. Other than that, fuk it! How the heck do you get your groove on with all them people around? Put socks in your mouth or whisper?! The sooner the better -- buy a place of your own.

What state are you in? Make contact with the sheriff's department and advise them you want to remove your personal property. I specialize in foreclosures and have gone through many evictions. Never once were the occupants prevented from taking their belongings with them BUT and i say BUT it all depends upon the laws of your state.
Was the property not posted? Were you not served papers regarding the eviction?
Try to find out who the bank is that f/c on the property or better yet, find out who the attorney is representing the bank that f/c on the property. Advise them you want your personal items from the property.
Whatever you do DO NOT DELAY...some banks will trash out the property quickly to get it on the market...which means you lose all your stuff!

"Look at me, I'm going to buy a Hummer and then shack up with my cousins because I can't afford a place myself":giggling: "But I'm going to wait untill it's a sellers market to buy my own place":giggling: OK i'm done. Happy trailer hunting! -------Living with my cousins? OK now I'm done.

Check with the landlord/tenant union. Not all states let people steal your possesions without a lein or court order.
Sell H2, buy Toyota pickup, lease your own apartment. ;)

Contact legal aid society. They will have a landlord/tenant specialist. BUT----DO IT NOW, NOT TOMORROW, NOW!!!

ditto...i've been to hundreds of evictions in dealing with foreclosures and there is always a constant stream of postings, papers being served etc...i agree, hard to imagine this being a "surprise"
