The guy was being a smart ass, I dunno what the cop should have done, he probably should have gave him a little more warning like "I'm going to tase you if you don't put your hands on the hood." (I dunno if pulling a gun would have been better or worse), but the guy should have given more respect to the officer and contested the ticket in court later if he wanted.

Not saying that he deserved it, but then again, I don't know the procedures.

he deserved it......the officer has the authority to ask/tell you to comply...you chose your fate.....if it happened more often, maybe the U.S. would clean up its act some....

If you don't sign and thereby promise to appear, the cop is obligated to take you into custody. The cop didn't have much choice since the guy was trying to leave.
