Hey guys (and girls) -- I just purchased a 2003 H2 and had a question about the power folding mirrors -- doing the procedure listed in the book folds the passenger mirror in and out, but it isn't clear from the manual whether BOTH mirrors are supposed to power fold, or just the passenger one. Can anybody clear this up?

Thanks --
Darin

both should fold in or out.If they
do not It's either the motor or module
inside the mirror is junk.
people move the mirror with their hands
instead of the using the swich, they break.

Thanks for the reply -- what kind of cost am I looking at to replace? Do I have to have it done at a Hummer dealer, or can a Cadillac / other GM dealer fix it?

Cost of replacing mirrors-parts only.

part #
R15187006-Right side w/chrome trim-$353.02

L15187005-Left side w/chrome trim-$529.53

R15187004-Right side w/o chrome trim-$353.02

L15187003-left side w/o chrome trim-$529.53

The Gm dealer where I bought my wifes truck from does not do warranty work on H2's. They will only do oil changes. I would take it back to a Hummer dealership. You may not need to replace the entire mirror. I had a problem with my mirrors only folding in about 1/2 way. I took it back to the Hummer dealer and they claimed to have "re-syncronized" them. I don't know what that is but they both work fine now.

There was a TSB early on about the mirrors. During shipping they would get closed manually and then not function properly. The procedure to fix it is simple and detailed in the TSB. It may be worth a shot. Search for mirrors and TSB

Xg, Follow my instructions from this link of 18 months ago. If you have an early H2 this may solve it. The "plastic chain" can sometimes get of the cam gear. and that may involve a little more.

how many miles are one the truck?
most dealers if not all will replace it
under warrenty.
If you are a new customer to them
and are a little over in mileagethey could
run a goodwill wty,to keep you comming back.
good luck!

The truck has 9700 miles on it. So it should be well within warranty. Thanks for the posts, guys.

I think this mirror thing is really weird. I was thinking about it today while the H2 went through the wash. Yes, it fit with the Stealth and FREE GOBI ladder.

Anyway, the wash guys just folded the mirrors right in and pulled them out when the truck came out. No different than ever. The first thing I did was check the mirrors. I snapped them into the proper position because they weren't and they work properly.

Very odd that some are having difficulty with this.

Uh....H2's have folding mirrors? Hmmm, mine is a 2003 H2 with Adventure package. No folding mirrors. Is it standard or optional?

all H2's have folding mirrors, just make sure the button that switches from left to right is in the center and then press right side of control button to fold and left to unfold. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hi everyone,

My mirrors fold fine but I noticed within a week my drivers side mirror seemed loose (in & out) then my passenger side seems to have become a little loose also. I tried the adjustment the owners manual suggested (3 times in & out) but no change. How much slack in this system is normal? It seems to me there should be no movement.

Thanks

I have had both my mirrors replaced because they were loose. This is also a TSB and the dealer replaced them under warranty.

I've had both of mine replaced also. Now one is twice as fast as the other folding in and out.

Here's a stupid question: I love the power folding mirrors, esp when pulling into our 3 car garage.... but are th emirrirs supposed to fold at the same time? I never noticed before... I ask because my passenger mirror folds first before my side....

Thanks - I will point that out to the Dealer when I take the Hummer in on Tuesday. Has 2 pin hole puncture thru paint in the back rear that they have to re-do!! The 1st time they did the touch up it came out looking worse than what my 5 year old would polish her own fingernails. So today after the oil change, they said they would re-do it and it will NOT be noticeable.. We'll see. I was going to rant and rave since I have only had my new H2 since last month!! Thanks again!
