So I had an interview appointment today with a potential new employee. Shows up for his interview on time and dressed appropriately. I start thinking, this guy has potential. So I invite him in to my office and tell him "Please, come in take a seat and make yourself comfortable" This is where he took a nose dive. He goes PAST the 2 guest chairs in from of my desk and sits in MY CHAIR!!!!! Needless to say I told him his interview was over and he failed horribly. Idiot!

Sorry, James. I would have had to quiz him on why he felt he had to do that. It was a conscious decision and his answer would have been extremely interesting.

You know I talk to other business owners in this town and they all have horror stories. I cant freakin believe that people will show up for an interview in jeans or a baseball hat. WTF? It cant just be here in San Antonio. I had a guy show up with a wad of dip in his lip. One guy came in with his own soda. A BIG GULP even. We had a guy show up for his interview dressed appropriately, spoke well, clear headed and seemed intelligent... the odd thing was he brought his wife! She sat in on the interview, toured the office with him, etc... oh did I forget to mention she was carrying their 5 month old child the whole time?!!?

Oh I've had em show up with the old lady too. I didnt let them sit in on the interview though. It was just that all I ever asked for was a little respect and work ethic. I could let alot of things go but that was too much for me that day.

I have better stories...I hired and fired hundreds befroe I finally got out of the business of needing others and bought my own Real estate Office...now its people I laugh at and not employees.

That's funny...the guy was *probably* trying to be playful but it backfires! the best kind of owned....

I'm glad the only people I've had to hire were laborers and didn't require an interview...just show up if you can do the work you can come back tomorrow. But seeing as how I was younger than all my employees (i was 15-18 during that time), they would screw around right in front of me and I had the chance to fire plently of idiots who don't understand the ethics of work!
