So, my firm runs credit and background checks for all of our investment clients. I don't mind doing it. Those reports are tough to decipher and the data goes a long way in deciding whether to rent to a business or invidual or not. We charge an application fee, that's always under $25 bucks, and usually a serious tenant will pay it, no problem.

So I have this one obnoxious client, who pays for it himself! Can you believe it? Doesn't even charge the applicants a fee for it and puts in on his own credit card. Worse than that, he obviously feels guilty about asking me to do this and keeps asking me how he can make it up to me. (Now the benefit, of course, is that we counsel all these potential renters on ther creidt and what not, and eventually make them solid buyers and gain their business for life, anyway. We like doing it.)

So, I joke with this guy about the fact that he will have to buy me a steak dinner the next time he's in town and we'll call it even. He agrees and that's that. I would really just like to hang out anyway, I get to do it with Tim, Alan, etc. All the local Yahoos. This guy goes so far as to ask me what good steak houses there are here and we have a LONG talk about it.

So, today I get a GINORMOUS gift card to one of the nicer ones in town. Far more than the dinner would have cost, anyway. Obnoxious, right? Can you believe the nerve of this guy? Now I feel guilty. RARRRRHHHHHHH!!!!

I'm just kidding, of course. ;)

Thanks, MarineHawk! Let me know when you'll be back in town so we can go to dinner with it!

You should not wait until I get back out there to use it. Though if you use it on Ken, I fear it will be something like that scene in the "Blues Brothers," where Akroyd and Belushi went into the restaurant to embarass their former band member. JK.
