View Full Version : Parts list for Moab
What are the H3 must-haves to carry out to Moab? There will be stock H3's, so what might they break or what is the most common item?

Front diff. ;) Just wanted to beat CO to the punch. :fdance:
Tie-rod ends and maybe half-shafts are about all you can fix on the trail. Make sure you have the correct tools to change out both. Extra fluids - oil, power steering, atf.
Depending on what trails you run, they should all have rocker protection and underbody protection.
Yeah, I knew about the diffs and suspected the others. Just wanted to make sure there was nothing else. We will have a tech along with a parts trailer, so if we know ahead of time what to bring, we can make sure it's in the trailer.

IT'S THE MIDWEST HUMMER CLUB. LVS I HAVE STARTED A LIST FOR THE H-3 & 2. JUST NEED MORE INFO ON THE 1
Yep, it's the Midwest Hummer Club. We will be running trails from 5/26 to 5/30. I currently have 12 for sure, 2 more possibly signed up. There are 3 H1's, 4 H2's, and 5 H3's, so a good mix. If anyone will be arounMoab at that time, let me know. We will be running Moab Rim, Hell's Revenge, Porcupine Rim, Fins and things, Seven Mile Rim, Wipe out hill, possibly Tower Arch and Golden Spike, depending on time and interest. Some of us will be out there on 5/24 and will do a trail on 5/25.
This is the first time the majority of the club will have been to Moab. All have been off-road, but nothing this extreme. About half will have their families/small children, and we will be taking our time and letting everyone try as many obstacles as they want.
If there is a day where some of the group will be going sight-seeing, the rest of us can run Golden Spike. I don't want to take a large group with lots of kids out on that trail!
Hey Partsman - I think the list I gave you for the H1 will be adequat. There is no way you can ever be totally prepared for what the H1 can break LOL!! The only thing you really need is half-shafts and a good trailer, and I've got both covered!

No kidding about the H3 diff. You can tow it out and replace it somewhere comfy, like Moab 4x4. ;)

You have an Alpha, you won't need anything but fuel.:fdance:
You are so right about that. The Alpha rocks.
You can also just bring friends who have all the parts. That works too :clapping:

I always hear the H3ers talk about bringing tie rods but I have yet to see anyone break one. Is this common?
I've seen H2 tri-fecta queen break them in bunches on one trail, but never an H3.
We are staying at the Bowen Motel. It's right on the main drag. Do try to meet up with us or just stop by to say hi! I won't know the final trail schedule until we get closer and I know when everyone is coming and going. I know there are a few who will be out there on Sat and Sun running trails. I hope to be out there on Sat night.

Not as common as on the H2's, but they will bend. I've seen three (myself included) so far. GM also upgraded them in mid-'07, so the newer ones are a little thicker.

Funny they never upgraded them on the H2. But then again, I went three years and never bent one.
