I guess it depends what the meaning of is......is.
Fawkin Toyota is a Japanese company.
Follow the money, and the money ends up in Japan.
FWIW, we should all be thanking the American unions for this as they continue to stifle the profitability of American manufacturers.

Sooner or later the cost of manufacturing goods overseas and shipping them here will cost so much it'll be cheaper to manufacture them here....
And, it might be sooner than we think....

Ah-ha! OMG, I know so many people who work there .. and Honda, too ..located in the same area. HOWEVER ... you neglected to post that Torrance is Toyota's NORTH AMERICAN HEADQUARTERS!!!! Man oh man. Factoid ... Toyota owns many homes in this area (not Torrance) that are used for their Japanese executives for TEMPORARY family relocation. The execs and their immediate family are sent here for usually 2-3 years and then return to Japan. My son has lost a few friends who had lived here for only 2-3 years, only to be sent back to Japan.

And, it might be sooner than we think....Not as long as union negotiated benefits continue to rise as they have over the past ten years. Labor, including funding pensions, insurance, paid leave, etc is the number one cost of American autos.

NO you should thank the execs giving themselves million dollar raises, and not managing the company well. The unions are trying to protect the working conditions of the facility, so that workers don?t get hurt and mistreated. In a perfect world you wouldn?t need unions but the snakes in charge of the companies only care about the bottom line and not how it is achieved. Workers need to be organized into one voice, so as the individual speaking up doesn?t get terminated or demoted.
But hey that?s just my 2 cents:soapbox:
