Dental Insurance Legislation Introduced

Week of June 30, 2008
U.S. Senator Richard Burr (http://capwiz.com/military/bio/?id=444&lvl=C&chamber=S) (R-NC) introduced legislation that would provide veterans with access to dental insurance. The bill would allow the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to establish a dental program for all veterans, surviving spouses, and certain dependent children who are enrolled in VA's health care system. The vast majority of people receiving care from the department do not have access to dental care through VA. Burr's legislation is modeled after the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program (TRDP) in which military retirees are given the option to purchase dental coverage under a private contract managed by the Department of Defense.

That's good news but unfortunately it'll be an uphill battle.

BUT, like a journey and the first step...

BUT, like a journey and the first step...

Absolutely, just like the concurrent receipt (CRDP) issue. The government waits till the majority of WWII vets have passed away and finally allows CRDP. On one hand I have to look at it as a bunch of $hit, but then on the other I'm that much more grateful for the WWII vets and what their sacrifices ultimately accomplished for the rest of us. Now if the decision would just get expedited on my CRSC....
