At a recent offroad gathering we started talking about the fact that Hummers attract attention - even today. I related a story when we had our shadow green H3 and my son was home on leave from the Air Force and in uniform. We pulled into to a gas station and an older couple walked over to my son and said, "these things look bigger on TV in Iraq." Obviously the design team did well.
The second incident happened with a 20 ish nice looking girl about 5 ft tall and the H2 at a gas station. She walked all around it and looked me straight in the eyes and said, "how do you get up into this?" I said just step on the side rail and pull yourself in. She said she didn't think she could do that, but as she pulled herself up she smiled at me and said, "I always wanted to sit in a Hummer, thank you." As I drove away I noticed a business card she had left in the cup holder that said Linda's Escort Service with a phone number circled!
