New Tires and Wheels on H1 2D Pick up

I am redoing a 97 2 door H1 Pick up. It does not have ctis. And has 16.5" rims with 35" tires. My mechanic wants to put 18" rims with 37" tires. What do you think. I am not making a "hot rod" out of it. I want it to look kind of stock. Are these going to be too big and not look right?

37's are the stock size.

If you plan on going Off-Road stick with OEM or GT (Cepek) wheels. These are the only wheels available with the correct offset and weight rating. If you run other wheels you have a good chance of shattering a wheel.
