FROM: H2 160K Overhaul Thread: (http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=528816#post528816) I wonder if you could dremel out the welds without going through to the otside, and then reattach the panels with something like velcro strips, since they look like they have lots of overlap.

Or, what about using allen head bolts that match the ones for the dash? That might look sort of cool. The bolts would be in the plastic part, and with the LineX you probably wouldn't need washers on the outside. If you did you could use black ones.

I've been thinking about dremelling too. I figured I could carefully dremel just the tips of the plastic stems off (the parts where is smooshes out to make the 'weld') and possibly pop the pieces right off.

When it comes time for reassembly, if enough of the stem is left intact I could then put some Permatex PermaPoxy plastic weld on them and slide the stems back in the little holes...let it cure and voila!

Since there's so much overlap on the pieces I could even go a little heavy on the PermaPoxy for added strength without much fear of it squishing out on the front-side and being visible.

The more and more I think about it, the more I think it is completely doable. I'll probably pop a rear panel off tonight to give it a closer look...I've been itchin' to lose those pockets anyway...I'd rather taken them off before someone breaks them off.

That will work, I glued one together with regular silicon a year back and took it of three times since, it's still in one pice.

Good to know...that makes me feel even more confident.

Another option would be double sided tape. The stuff made for trim and emblems on the outside of vehicles is really strong, and with that much overlap it would work great.
