does anyone know if the 03-06 chevy or GMC wiper switch/ fog light is the same size and mounting as the 07 hummer rear wiper switch? reason im asking is because i noticed theres a empty space under the rear wiper control on the hummer and the controls look exactly the same as the 03-06 suburban/tahoe/yukon. i wanted to replace my switch with this one to hook up my new off road lights to. so has anyone done this or know if it will work? if not, got any other ideas for me to mount my control switch? heres a picture of the suburban switch (top) compared to the hummer( bottom)

Looks the same...just pop the fog light switch out of your GMC unit and it should fit right in the housing on the H2.

It'd only take 15 minutes to test... just remove the two hex bolts on that side of the dash and pull the bezel off (just be gentle with the clips...top left and right on the back of the bezel)

well, isnt this all one piece? or can you pop out the lower section to swap it out?

The top and bottom pops out. They simply clip into a single housing that fits in the dash.

EDIT: Now you've got me second guessing myself...I put a toggle switch in my bottom half a few years back and I could have sworn that they popped out. But perhaps I'm confusing them with the Towing and TC switches, 'cause I put a switch in one of those too.

2010_5thgen: does the top and bottom pop out of the Suburban one? If not, then I stand corrected...the H2 one prolly doesn't pop out either. BUT the switches are more than likely compatible; in other words the Suburban rear wiper switch prolly has the same guts as the H2 one and will turn your wiper on and off. Either way...it's a 15 minute job to test.

Actually, I did some poking around on amazon.com and it looks like the part is definitely interchangeable. I ran part number 15143159 and got this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/compatibility-chart/B001S80Z8K/ref=au_pf_dp_chart

Does the back of the Tahoe switch have one connector or two? If it's got two, you should only have to figure out the wiring for the fog light portion.

yes, it only has one. and theres 3 open slots for wires. just need to figure out which ones go where and then get it all hooked up. shouldnt take long once we determine which wire goes in which spot.

just a little update on the new switch conversion.....finally got the right pins for the wiring to work with the stock harness clip. theres apparenlty alot of different sizes with the same numbers. but we got them out of a 03 silverado. they are supposed to be used for the rear wiper , but obviously a silverado has no rear wiper...so they wont be missed.

we hooked the red and white up to the right locations. then tapped into the ground wire in the factory harness.....no lights....so we grounded to the body...no lights.... so everythign is hooked up right...just still not working. SO....we think the switch is bad for the fog light button. so i need to get a new switch. once i get a new one and test it, ill post. this is really turning out to be a pain in the @$$. hopefully this new switch works. i really wanted this to have a stock look.

i was talking with my buddies dad about me doing this light switch conversion to my truck. he told me that it wont work. basically because the button doesnt stay on when you push it. it basically tells a relay to turn the lights on. the button doesnt stay on with the lights like a toggle switch or and other kind of button that stays on with something. so this button wont work without a factory relay. it needs a switch that stays on and tells the lights to stay on. so before i get in too deep with this im going to just put some type of toggle switch in. im pretty disappointed.but, at least we figured it out, as to why it wasnt working.

Now that you mention it...that's how my Z28 switch and the one in my Red Line work...must be a GM thing.

Yeah it sucks. Now I gotta find a factory looking switch and get another hummer rear wiper switch so I have the flat spot on the bottom instead of this fog light button
