My seat heater , driver side, will just turn on out of the blue. I turn it off and seconds later it turns back on. Eventually it stays off... but not without fight.

Anyone seen this before, and have any solution?

Ours will turn on to low setting and increase till it toasts your butt and you can turn it off continuously. It will keep turning itself on about 4 or 5 times, then it will stop doing it and you never have any issues for about a month or 2.
Wonder if we are the only 2 people with ghosts in our seat warmers?

Lol... I don't know. I've never read about it but that doesn't mean much.

Reminds me of a Volkswagen

I heard that there is a module (BCM) that controls those things and that if it starts faulting it will do things like that (along with rolling down windows when ever it wants to)

Given, I might be wrong. (guruerror? any insight?)

BTW, the BCM is under you drivers seat
any moisture will mess it up

I'll jump in... Every time I start mine up the drivers side is on high and my ass gets fried.... I'd like to know more also!!

I had teh same problem with my 05. But just on the drivers side.
The bun warmers would turn on full tilt, I'd turn them off, and then a short while later, back on again. Eventually, they'd stay off.

I did find (IIRC) that there is a module under the driver's side seat that controls the seat heaters. I priced it out, and it was about $400 bux.
I took a chance and ordered a new switch for the door panel from hummers online. Think it was about $130 bux. This solved my problem!!
Luckily I never had problems with the passenger side door panel switch.

$130 beat $400, so maybe try changing that door panel switch!
Good luck!

Too Funny, Mine just started that today. Took it to my local dealer to check along with my drivers seat issue of not moving back.
Was told the module was bad. To fix the seat, they said I need a whole new undercarriage assembly with all electronics. $1,800.
I couldnt stop laughing.....Paid for the time to check it and walked out the door.
Anyone know where to get a horizontal seat sensor?

Mine did it again the other day, when I was playing with the ride height sensors. Been a while since it's done it. Coincident? Who knows.....

1800.00 ??? If someone told me that I'd lose it.... because you know its the same damn part already in your truck, which failed way before it should have even if it was a 50.00 dollar part.

I'm really disgusted with the fact these trucks stickered for mid 60's and they have all the problems they do.

So true...It's a shame that this former Hummer Dealer in Central NJ charged me $115 plus tax for diagnostic and never did anything but pull it in the bay.

I just hooked up with this GM Guru in South Jersey. Going there one night this week. Ill inquire about the ramdom heat also.. will keep you posted

You guy should try disconnecting your battery for a while. Its a computer...I've seen stranger **** happening on the boards over the last year where a power cycle fixes the issue.

What the hell, can't hurt! I'll undo it in the morning. Anything is worth a try!

I had my battery unplugged for a couple days on one of the recent projects I did. So if it did fix it, it came back.

Any updates from the guys who were having the problem? I guess maybe a better question would be the best way to troubleshoot this so I'm not laying out money for parts not needed.

Mine all of a sudden is got worse, and now is on off, high low, flashing steady.

I literally would have jammed a broom handle through the switch tonight , if I would have had one next to me.

I'm so frustrated with this truck I'm about to go trade it in just to get rid of it quickly and I never trade in.

I just dumped a lot of time, money, and work into this thing and at 50k I shouldn't have had to do half of it.

I used to have a tahoe that the seat heaters worked perfect in for everyone but my dad, everytime he would be in it, I'd notice the seat heater on and sure enough he had never turned it on, almost every single time he got in the truck, he swore the seat had a weight detector in it, and memorized his weight.

Did he have his own set of keys? driver1, driver2

Mine has all of a sudden quit doing it.

I haven't had the time or weather to mess with the door or get in to see a tech 2, but i'm not putting the switch panel back together until i do.

Mine started this same thing last week. It puts it on High until I shut it off, in which some cases it turns it back on as soon as I finish cussing it. In my work commute of 45-60 min, I bet it turns itself on about 20+ times.
I'm thinking about putting a .45ACP round thru it to see if that helps matters any.

:jump: Not laughing at you..... laughing at thought of resolution.

I was ready to jam a broom handle through mine. It will literally drive a person insane.

Change out the window switch module and you'll be good to go. :beerchug:

But my seat heater switch is above my window switch on the door panel. Are those 2 connected somehow?

Yes, they are connected.

I got my replacement from a junk yard.

$183.30 new. Ouch! What other vehicles use this? I see the 2003 Yukon does. I just know that when I call a salvage yard and ask for H2 parts they won't have any.
But now since a box of .45ACP is near $100, it may be cheaper to pull an 'Old Yeller' on it. :giggling:
