This thing better run on 87 R+M because that's all she's gettin'. I have 2600 miles with no problems running regular.

Haven't tried new air filter, but there's indications that an improved air intake system can boost HP and give a slight increase in mpg. One source of info is http://www.breathlessperformance.com/

Use Regular (which usually translates to 87 octane here in CA).

Air Filter has an extended life, but there are many aftermarket options.

Oil filter: I just bought a couple and they are tiny for such a big vehicle. I prefer to change my own oil and doing so doesn't void the warranty [keep receipts].

Just regular gas, a tank full of reg. gas is about same filling up premium gas on European cars. i.e., H2 10MPG reg. is no more than higher MPG of Premium. I've seen reports many times that if your manual suggests 87, it doesn't do any good to put premium in, you're throwing your money away.

I use regular and I getting 13.8 MPG City and 18.6 MPG on the highway.

Talk to a Hummer tech and they recommend only 87 Octane, you don't get any benefit out of using a premium or a higher Octane fuel.

Haven't done the K&N option yet, but It's on my list of to do's.

AZ Hummerboy, I had to do a double take when I saw 18.6 MPG hwy, that's not a typo, is it? I actually only get average 9.7 MPG, but that's because 90% extreme mountain paved roads I drive daily. 13.8 MPG city sounds really solid. Hats off to you, these numbers are too good for a 3 tons truck, did you add anything? do you only go downhill? do you drive with eyes on the instant MPG? Saw your comment elsewhere on this board that you are wearing something called "milk bone underwear", could this underwear be your secret weapon? please share with us the secret of your success. I'm getting 9.7 city, 13 hwy and I'm happy bout it. YOU, on the other hand, have a severe case of H2-jiggle. That can happen when taking your h2 off road for days on end without food or water. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I get so tired of people asking what kind of gas mileage I get, that I'm with Arizona on this one.

Yep, I'm getting right at 19 mpg on the highway, Just like you Arizona. I don't know why the onboard computer only shows 12.8. I guess I'll have the dealer check it out when I go in for my first oil change. As for the rest of you, you need to learn how to be a little easier on the gas pedal. :-)

I never had a car with great mileage, always had big V8 or V12 engines and never paid attention to the gas usage, but I tell you, I have been thinking quite often later "Didn't I just filled up yesterday?", or asking "Didn't you filled up the tank 2 days ago?" This beast is addicted to gas, I am just glad that it has a cheap taste for regular gas.

Well if you are running higher octane than is needed you could actually hurt milage and performance. Higher octane requires more spark to ignite. If you have not upgraded your ignition system and/or added high perfomance parts then chances are very good you may actually have unburnt fuel hanging around inside your motor. The best rule of thumb is to run only the highest octane that is needed to keep the motor from pinging. This will keep your motor very happy. As far as an aftermarket Cold Air Induction(CAI) system, I have put one on everyone of my vehicles to improve performnace and increase milage. I usually see a 1-2 mpg improvement so it will take some time to recoup the cost of the CAI. But it is money well spent. Your best bet is to add a CAI, headers and custom exhaust. This should greatly improve the throttle response, performance and mpg.
