Okay...

Hubby left me alone with the rest of the tire carrier installation after putting the tire on the back.

Okay....SMA sent me two little pieces of electrical plastic to attach to the wire that runs from the light box. Okay. I am looking under the back of the bumper and I see one receptacle where I can plug in to.

So where does this go. I cut the wire and attached the flat pronged to the wire and I am ready to plug in. This is not like putting speakers/radios in so I am perplexed at this one and don't want to mess it up. If this was my high school car I would play around with it but this is my BIG BABY!!

Any suggestions? I am a do it yourself girl and I want to do it myself. Without screwing up.

I think I unscrewd the four torx screws on the outside of the trailer connector. This gave me access to unplug trailer harness from trailer plug behind bumper. I think it was a brown? wire I spliced into. I then took the blue vampire connector and crimped on brown? wire. Then connect lic. light connector on blue vampire connector that you crimped on brown? wire.

Hope this makes sense.

Mucho Mejor Senior!!!

That will work like a charm!! Actually that was my first choice but was still unsure. I will double check the colors with the legend that was wrapped around the trailer wires!!!

On my way out to the garage right now. Will post back to let you know if I shorted out the whole electrical system!!! HA!

Thanks man!

Should be the brown wire. You can disconnect the hitch plug from behind the bumper by just pulling and wiggling it. Then snap it back when you're done. If you have trouble with the light working you might have a ground problem. I took some paint off around the bolt holes on each piece using a Dremel (a screwdriver and sandpaper would work too). You can't get good ground contact with all that paint. Hope this helps!

okay you mean the grounding as far as the light box and nuts..being connected to the plate, which connects to the left D ring?

I get what you are saying.

That's a Roger Dodger Big Ten Four. Mine wouldn't work until I had bare metal under the small bolts on the light to plate surfaces and all surfaces under the "D" ring connected by the big bolt.

Ha HA!!!

No that only happened once while wallpapering our first house. Exacto knife went into wall socket slot while cutting wet paper and took me a couple of seconds to understand why I could not move my arm.

Lucky I was using a plastic covered knife!

Phew!

But I have seen some pretty stupid medical folks get zapped while in RT school that forgot to put the gel on the defibrilator pads during a code. The new defibrilators now have everything you need without have to use the paddles!!

Another phew.

Alright...I got the tag light installed and "No" I don't have cartoon hair.

It was super easy!

Thanks for the tips on the wire thingy and rescuing Repunzel!
