Anyone know how to remove the H2 door emblem? I have the interior panels off the doors today and thought I'd pop the emblems and de-bling them. I expected to find a couple posts sticking through the door skin with clips on the back but NO. I can't see anything inside the door that holds them on or any place where they pierce the skin.

There is a cross-member (horizontal) at about the same height from the bottom of the door. Maybe the emblem is attached behind that?

Thanks in advance!

3M tape. You can use a hair dryer and some fishing twine or a plastic hook to get under there. THey pull off.

The emblems should be attached by foam tape. Use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat the tape and dental floss or string to break the seal. The emblem should come right off with no residue.

Has anyone else tried this??? I heated the hell out of the emblem and when i went to pull it off it was like i was just going to be ripping the foam. It was not coming off "clean".

I used a hair dryer along with a plastic spatula to lift the emblem as I was heating it. In that way, it lifted the adhesive without scratching the finish. Used adhesive remover to clean up residue..

3m makes a nice adhesive remover. I have used auto wax on that crap before too. Worked out pretty well!

I have done what Snake said with the Dental Floss and the hair dryer on my ML. It works great, pull it tight and use the floss like a saw to remove

If you remove the emblems, what should you use to put them back on?

You painted them while on the truck? I thought I might paint mine after removing them but two emblems came off in two pieces each. So all three are off for good.

I used an empty 12 pack container to mask the immidiate area around the emblem. The cardboard holds it's shape, is easily cut, and can be slid in-between the body and emblem, against the foam tape. I then used a couple of sheets of newspaper to mask the immidiate area around the emblem.

I sanded with an orbital for about 20 seconds each and wiped down with a damp paper towel. Smoked a cig and opened a Pepsi to waste time and make sure the emblem had enough time to dry.

Shot the emblem, fully coating it at one time. I didn't want to give the paint a chance to cure and peel when I removed the masking. Then removed the masking immediately.

There are a couple of places I need to touch up because I bumped the painted surface by mistake and some of the spray snuck under the cardboard. It's really not noticable, but I know it's there.

I also did the chrome license cap yesterday. :No pics because the battery needed to be recharged and I didn't want to wait. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Good thinking. Unfortunately I didn't do so well but I guess it doesn't look bad without the emblems.

The blacked brow really makes the license plate holder work, eh? You mount the spare yet? My holder fits quite differently with the new rims.
