View Full Version : Auto ON turn signal relay?

In the MB, if you tap (not engage) the turn stick, the turn signal light would blink 3 times before shutting-off. I found this habit to be very hard to break when changing lanes (L.A. freeways top 3 WORST in country -- lots of lane changes necc.)

Anyone knows if I can get this relay that would work with the H2? Klaus?

Yea my wifes Benz has that feature too. Its actually pretty nice but I think there is more than a relay involved. It is probably wired thru a directional module. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Do you know what the feature is called? I can't even google it 'cause I don't know the technical name for it!

Sorry guys, I'm still working on my Escalade 6-CD changer, XM Radio, Rubber Duck UCP, H2OGuy Grill Guard, and Cibie H4 headlight installs...

NOOOOO!!!! YOU WERE MY LAST HOPE!! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

All that work will benefit only YOU; this "auto turn" will benefit THOUSANDS of insignificant drivers who are being cut-off everyday by a pewter H2! Think of the good of the masses Klaus! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Kindly allow me to set the record straight to all.

LA LA LAND has the best and most extensive freeway system in the world, plus unlimited alternative surface road grids, with unrestricted geographical landscape void of major rivers, bay and mountains; it has the most effective freeway systems covering a massive land mass with/for a huge population. Decades ago, LA made the decision to go with automobiles instead of public transportations, lead the way for the American automobile culture, one decision radical environmentalists hate with passion. All metropolitan areas has freeway jams, including smaller cities such as Salt Lake city and all others, but LA LA LAND offers endless easy to use surface alternatives which you will not find in other cities, most freeway jams can be avoidable if one plans accordingly based on known daily traffic conditions. An excellent system that is largely logical, mathatical, predictable and user friendly.

Finally,
I just checked my sons owners manual for his MB and it only tells you how to do the function it does not refer to it by a name.

Thank you all for the reply. However "self-cancelling" are not quite what it is. Vern, your link (as well as google on the term) provides units with min. 20 seconds ON, before self-cancel. The install literature said that to change lane, unit can be MANUALLY turned off prior to the 20 seconds.

In the MB, the turn will only blink 3 times -- maybe 3 seconds tops, before cancelling -- specifically for lane changing use in traffic. That's why I thought it is going to be more like a (simple?) relay unit.

Very frustrating..

Why not just hold it in position and count to three? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

"Why not just hold it in position and count to three?"
It takes brain power to do that, some people can't afford to waste limited resources.
No wonder it is very frustrating.

A more complicated alternative is to push half way and hold the turn signal column with one finger. The Hummer is not as smart as the German car, it does not count to 3. Some people cannot change lane and hold the singal column at the same time.

I truly think some people will be much happier in Japanese cars and some in German cars. Not everyone is made for American cars, some people like to show off their German cars, only few will find it at home in the Hummers.

After all the complaints about your Hummer's shortcomings from you for weeks, how about you give us some positive points about your Hummer? You are a super nice guy, but I can't recall anything nice you said about your Hummer, hope you are more positive for/with your family and friends. I have not been active here and only click on few topics, maybe I missed them? could it be that a man of your wealth should be driving a Mercedes or Lexus instead of an American truck?

3 seconds turn signal, come on. Excuse me while I puke. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

No, no, no. You got it wrong. I LOVE my H2. Never really been a car guy before -- couldn't care less if the car is dirty or not. But I (still) wipe down the chromes of my H2 every other day!

That said, it is STILL only a vehicle -- very wrong to gush over it. Now if the conversation is about my extraordinarily beautiful wife... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

This question is more in the nature of customizing my ride -- just like you (with black grill, rear step, double wipers (?), etched windows (??)...) and pretty much everyone else have done.

Other than a few blings here & there, I prefer functionality mods that doesn't necc. cost a bundle (Lingenfelter SC) and risk voiding my warranty. At least for now.

As far as the 3 seconds turn signal, I bet you every (newer) MB driver finds it very useful -- if you are (or try to be) a courteous & safe driver that cares about things like signaling before changing lane. The way YOU drive, I understand how this is a useless feature.. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
