note that the Ipod plugs in using the headphone jack, not the dock connector at the bottom, resulting in poor sound quality. There is a cable that hooks the Ipod up to the AUX input of the factory radio (I hooked mine up already).

There is some debate on here as to whether the upgraded stereos have the AUX port. All i can say is that the basic, 1 CD Hummer radio has an AUX input at the back (that is accessed by pressing the BAND button repeatedly)

I think you are right TorontoJeff. If you look at the pictures of the back of the base stereo, which looks the same as my MP3 stereo, there are two ports. I think the base stereo only uses the main (larger) port, whereas on mine, the smaller port is used also, for the XM radio. So if I want to use that port for the direct iPod connection, I'll have to do away with XM, which I'm fine with since I'll have my iPod!!!
