I saw some articles about that...The whole notion of raising prices on Toyotas sounds good for the American car companies on the surface...but it almost sounds like Toyota is using the guise of 'helping out Americans' to 'increase profits 10%'...any thoughts?

If import taxes were fair going either way then things would be better for us auto makers. I recall a news story a number of years ago about importing us vehicles to Japan. At the time a $20K mustang would cost about $40K there because of their import taxes. Doesn't seem fair to me.

Trade with Japan should be a 2-way street
If they have high tarrifs/taxes on our goods we should have equal tarrifs on Japanese goods too!

Not only foreign autos, but steel, and a lot of other things that are made in China and other 3'rd world countries. Look at how many are in Mexico now. That's our government for us. And that's not just picking political parties, that's all of them. OK, I feel a little better now.

It is actually a smart move by Toyota on a number of levels. Don't forget they build most of what they sell here and this will be well received by the unions.
