Muffler termites?

I was crawling around under the hummer today looking at how the backup sensor wires where routed when I noticed a hole in the muffler. Is this normal or is the muffler defective?

Thanks DRTY! That did come to mind, just wanted to make sure since all my previous vehicles puked the water out the tailpipe.
