I have had 2 chips multiple nics so far no cracks .I had them fixed through insurance.
Most people with full coverage insurance have glass coverage no deductable so the cost should be $0.
I havent seen a bug deflector on the H3 ,I dont think it would look good.

As far as I know in FL your insurance company is required to replace your windshield if there is a crack at their expense. I would check if there is such a law in your state.

full coverage does cover it. Even if chipped, They'll come out with a compound to fill it and make it look new. If you want a new one, instead of repaired, I guess just thumping it with a brick till you get a crack might work.:D :D :D :D

Sorry couldn't resist. I just put something called invisible bra on the front of my truck. It's basicaly clear plastic that protects the front half of the hood and part of the front fenders. There's also a kit that will do the bottom of the doors and around the back fenders. Warenty is for 5 years and it's hard to see farther than 3 feet from the vehicle.
If you're a perfectionist get someone to install it for you.

Dealer charged $800 to replace my windshield....The INSURANCE COMPANY said they could have had it done for $400....But they paid anyway....I have ALFA insurance in Alabama which has a $100 deductable for windshields.

AND I was not within a quarter mile of another car when my windshield took the hit...

I got 3 good chips in my first month, then none for the last 6. Go figure, since I'm spending more time off road/gravel now than before. I figure they don't annoy me that much, I'll just wait until I get some good crack, then have insurance replace the whole thing.

As far as the clear putty they use, I've tried that on other cars and was unhappy with the results (2 different glass places), so I'm not gonna bother:mad: . Sounds like other people have had different experiences withthat stuff:)

you can get a laminet for the front. Tint guys who know theri stuff know how to find it. it is a product from PPG and I had it on my Aztek glass. no break just surface pits. I am checking into one for the Hummer. it is the inviso braw like material but for your windshield.
