GM had set up "The Drive" a few months ago in Las Vegas. $10.00, a breathalizer test and a driver's license will give you a choice of 'off-roading' a new H2 or H3 on their Hummer Hill (a complete Hummer obstacle course) and a Tahoe Hill (similar to the Hummer hill, but on a smaller scale). A professional driver sits with you. Or, you can drive a choice of any other GM vehicle on their 'race track' to test it's performance. They encourage you to take them up to pretty high speeds to test performance (except the Hummer on the hill, of course). You get two drives .. can be one Hummer and one other non-Hummer, or, two other non-Hummers. I took the H2 and a Chevy SSR. I was there for their "Media Day" before the public had access. It was good for me at the time since I hadn't off-roaded mine yet. ;)

"The Drive" is located in a big area right behind the Sahara Hotel on the Strip. It is scheduled to be there only 6-8 months .. just enough time to get the masses a feel of the GM vehicles. They told me they do this in other cities, too. Tickets can be purchased there or online at TicketMasters. Off-roading the H2 at The Drive was awesome for me. I did the obstacle course twice. The first time I must have said "Are you sure I'm not going to tip?!?!?!?!", 30 times. The professional driver with me guaranteed I would not tip it. I felt like I was on my side. OMG! I'm spending next week in Las Vegas .. will be back to The Drive again, just for fun. I drove the SSR around the track three times just to feel the 400+ hp. And, the Corvette .. just for the heck of it. :D :D

GM does a traveling event like this too. I have gotten an invitation to the past two years but have never gone. Went to a Ford event like it 5 or 6 years ago, not as exciting vehicles but it was pretty cool.

I went to GM's Auto Show in Motion wher you could drive GM's cars and the competion on track and a little off road track with the H2's (no H3 yet)

The even let you try the Corvettes!

will be there for the 4th. I know it won't compare to the track in south bend but sounds like a quick fix for only 10 bucks, I'm in

I did it three times in April (it was free for locals), driving the H2 and H3. It was a blast!

This was before I had my H3. I was doing research and test drives on various vehicles. After driving the H3 on this course I stopped doing research. The Drive sold me on the H3. If you're in Vegas don't miss it.

I'm going out there the week of July 10 -15 and very high on my list of things to do is "do the drive." I own a vette and the H3 so I plan to drive both of them out there. I will probably drive the H3 several times because mine is a "bling bling" king and will never be off the road. This is my chance to see what it will do.

Just got back from "The Drive" yesterday ... it was great AGAIN! Did back-to-back H3's and back-to-back H2's... one being a SUT. Love the experience. Missing my H3 still back home at the dealer under repair. <grrrr> It should be here in vegas with us on this trip.

usetosellhummer ... we were there on Monday, too ... between 2-4pm. Wonder if we saw you. Were you on the Strip last night? If so, did you get caught up in all the car/foot traffic during the shooting in front of the Bellagio/Bally's area section of the Strip? Too wild.

I stayed ar the B with a view of the water. I kept hearing sirens but thought it was just the firehouse on Flamingo? What happened? I was at the drive between 2-4. maybe bumped into you or spilled a beer on ya.

usetosellhummer ... we were staying at the Four Seasons (top 5 floors located inside Mandalay Bay, though not part of Mandalay Bay), but were down around the "B" soon after the shooting happened. Two bike police told a local to turn the music down in his car. He wouldn't and tried to drive off with one officer clinging to the car. The car hit a pole and a taxi on the Strip, at the corner of Bally's and the Flamingo area. When the other bike officer saw his buddy drop off the car, he shot at the local trying to drive away and killed him. I guess the witnesses said his music was blaring and he tried to get away. Afterwards, the news was that he had a long criminal record. Traffic was diverted for hours. By the way, facing the water while in the "B" ... could things be much better? We just got home an hour ago.
