Sewie and I were given our walking papers today from the Northern California Hummer Group. :(

We were asked not to attend the Rubicon or Moab Trip.

So I guess I won't be seeing any of you there.

Allegedly we shared confidential dicussions between "club officers" :rolleyes: , in addition to posting the video.

I created my site a few months back and posted a bunch of pics from the NCHG trips I went on and used the club's name in the descriptions, etc. I also had put some Google ads on my site to try to recoup some of the costs. This apparently got the ire of Brian Piazza and his minions*. :rolleyes:

So after a discussion with him I agreed to make some changes. I removed all the ads and the club's name from all galleries and trip reports. Being a personal page with no possible commercial gain, he shouldn't have a problem, right?

So then comes the Pismo thread, Bebe's vid, angry PM's and emails, and all sorts of BS drama. :eek: Apparently Brian wants control of anything to do with the club and its events, including people's personal pics/vids.

Then the paranoia completely boiled over and we were accused of "sharing ...private correspondences between club officers" and were given the boot. :rolleyes: Whatever. :D

So who wants to go to Moab in August. I already have the time off. No waivers. ;)

Just went to NCHG's site to check them out and found this on the Q&A.

Is everything on the site open for the public to see now? No. We have added a new photo gallery/vault that is accessible to participants only. This is where owners post photos and videos so everyone can share them. It was also done to protect the families and personal photos from being accessible on the open Internet. Eventually the majority of our events and trip reports will all be placed behind a secure login screen.

What are they so afraid of? I can see them not posting member names and addresses, but pictures? And hiding all the trip reports ... they're crazy. Way to promote their club :rolleyes:

we are going to need to discuss how we integrate your involvement with the NCHG short term if you plan to be actively pulling people in and doing some of your own trips. The number one issue I have is the lack of insurance at the moment. I like your monthly Hollister trip idea but in thinking on this more, the NCHG is not prepared or structured in a way to have others create and supervise events just yet. The liability waiver is helpful, but I believe it is very risky to organize events (in absence of my attendance) using the NCHG name/.org. Not that I 'want' to be the center point for every event we do (believe me I do not), but purely because we lack liability insurance and I need to assess the risks personally. I do not want to do anything to stifle your enthusiasm and I see you being an active component of the NCHG after we move up to the next level and formalize our foundation.
In the meantime, I think we should collaborate on scheduling fun events about every six to eight weeks on the site as we have been and work towards those events using the NCHG activities web site. If you want to organize your own trips such as having standing meetings at Hollister each month or more, you should make it very clear these are not "NCHG" events and that you are not representing the NCHG. We both need to tread lightly so we do not get in the situation where our excitement causes a situation where both of us give up our homes and personal assets to the first person that does something stupid and injures or kills someone during an event we put together.....
