Ok ..first off I did a sarch and I couldn't find the info I wanted.

Second..I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread so that others would also be able to learn.

Third...What's weird is you can't find any operating info ..Or how the Nav unit works or what it will do on the Hummer site.

Forth.. This crap is all new to me in regaurds to what these units will and won't do. The other threads are not clear so ... here goes..

Don't Flame Me:D

If I oder the GM Nav unit in my 2007 H3 can I Nav while listening to the 6 CD Changer ..this of course is with the Lux package?

I assume that the control buttons come up on the Nav and are Touch Controls on the screen in the CD Mode when not naving

Also..Does the Radio appear in touch screen format on the unit?

Does the Unit Do DVD movies when not running the Nav Disc?

Not sure I'm adding XM ..but If I do ..does this also appear on the screen in touch format.
It would be really nice before you chunk out 2 grand to know WTF this thing can & can't do.

Any info you can supply here is ..Great. Or is there a web site to go to with info on this H3 unit.

Thanks..

Does the Unit Do DVD movies when not running the Nav Disc? I will say NO. I'm sure some GM attorney said no to this, since in most states it is technically illegal to watch a movie from the driver's seat.

I personally would save yourself some money and just go aftermarket. Sure, you can spend more by getting the latest and greatest unit out there but you can also save yourself plenty by going with a not so new model. Either way you will end up with a better system than factory and have more options as far as what you want do with it or connect to it. I almost went with the Z1 but having never had a full time NAV wasn't sure how much I would use it. By going with the D1 I got a better system than the OEM and saved myself over $1K. Of course, after a few more months I may find myself looking at the Z1 again :D

Not sure if this helps you in any way but just my $0.02 :)

Thanks Newbie,
I assume your speaking about the Pioneer System. I have to do resarch on that system. But that means Wiring and install. Not that I can't do it ..cause I can being in the Pro Audio Live Entertainment Electronics Business.

But I have to think of the Farg it factor..in other words ..do I want to wrench on a new Hummer or just say "Farg It" and sit back in my Leather and cruz.

That's why I spend time here..listening to what you guys have done.
Thanks for your input..:)

Anytime I can help. Yeah, was talking about the Pioneer D1. It really is a pretty simple install but even with paying a pro to do it you will save yourself some bucks. Not that there is anything wrong with the OEM unit though.

Guess you were there when I arrived:D
Visited a lot of the same places that you were at, we could have crossed paths.
Original MOS would have been 11BF7, but was discharged with a 37F.

I arrived around May 66 with the 140th Heavy Equipment Maint. Co..We were sent to the Long Bien Area and built our own compound. It was an unsecure area when we were their. It took about 3 months to totaly secure it.

Small arms fire every now and then during the day ...and at night 1 or 2 incoming mortors. I was a (62B30H) Depot Rebuild Mechanic...Rough Terrain Cranes and Bulldozers.

You'd never know it though.. they issued me an M14AR and a M179 Duper and in between wrenched in the bush I did Ammo convoys and non Mechanical things just so they made sure I would use the weapons...:D

11B would be a ......Infantry Operations And Intelligence Specialist
so what is the F7....and the 37F..??

MOS 11B is Infantry; F7=Pathfinder (Think there was another letter too, but as you know, that was a lifetime ago, and somethings we forget, somethings we try to forget, and somethings we will never forget) http://hometown.aol.com/f5fstop01/images/banghead.gif
37F = Psychological Operations Specialist (PSYOPS)http://hometown.aol.com/f5fstop01/images/crazy.gif

Now, back to cleaning my SIGs, heading to the range tomorrow... http://hometown.aol.com/f5fstop01/images/gunman.gif

We got activated Nov 02, left US Mar 03 and went to Kuwait. Camp Arifjan, where I spent most of the time. As 51T (now 21T) (land surveyor, CAD eng. S-2 bitch) we did s..t for a year. BC counted like 700 missions, where most of them were really stupid crap. I mean really stupid crap, but that's the army. You get money, you better spend it or next fiscal you won't get it. So it was nice vacation. Plenty of sun. Didn't rain for 8 straight months. Not even a cloud on sky. Lot's of sand. Lot's of off-road time behind HUMVEE, the real one (what a piece of **** it is, most of them spent more time in shop then on road). Many hours playing XBOX Hallo, 16 people, LOL!!!
If it wasn't for hot weather, tents with no AC and good looking chick, it would be best vacation I ever had. Funny thing is, that after few months fat girls started to look really hot, LOL!!! :D

Not much sand where I was stationed, mostly tripple canopy jungle or highlands, but hot as hell and talk about humidity. We were allowed to drink when he were in base camp (guess they would have had a hard time stopping us :D ).

in the 06 H3 nav the 6 disc changer goes away and it becomes a single disc player. I don't think it will play MP3's either, but I could be wrong on that.

Before anyone purchases, hope they check about the DVDs and the GPS antenna. In addition, since this is a GM radio, a trip to the dealer will probably be required to have the dealer, with a Tech 2, learn the radio to the LAN system.
