I don't see why this wouldn't work. The appear to have rubber/foam that will take the shape of whatever you put in them.

Great way to kill someone. Bad idea! No (scratch that) very fckin dumb idea!!!!!!!!!!!!! May as well take a rubberband, chewing gum, and attach it to your factory cross bars.

What my bro Tim meant was, the ski mounts are made of (kindda) flimsy alu with (kindda) flimsy rubber tubes, while the hi-lift are made of solid cast iron weighing prob 5 or 10x.

If you don't mind the look and functionaility of the hi-lift on your roof crossbars, you can prob get big screws long enough to accomodate a solid rubber block (truck bed tie or cut-out mallet), the hi-lift, and a good-sized wing-nut, and some solid washers big enough to be retained by the crossbar channel.

Tomp, I'm sure this was joke! Tell me you were! Please!:D DO NOW!

THere are pleanty other options out there. KenP has a nice/ clean way to set this up! It's a simple way to atach it too. If you don't have a tire back there, it's even easier.

I fully agree with Tim & Finally. Don't be cheap when it comes to an heavy and potentially deadly item like a high lift jack. Shell out the few extra dollars to secure your jack properly.

Gobi makes a hi lift mounting kit, don't they?

Plus, I'd go with a lock. $22.50

After looking at the cheap mounts on these things, I have to agree with you guys! Looks like they are plastic.
