Just had my jack changed out at the dealer for the recall. While there got a spare key made for a wallet holder without fob. After the guy cut it thought he made a error when he said it was $59.00. He checked it. Since its a special resistor type key and is uncommon I am stuck. Gold Coast Cadillac Oakhurst NJ you suck!

Maybe you should've asked how much it was before having it cut? It's common knowledge that keys at the dealership run $50-$200.

No resistor in a H3 key, the resistor circuit is in the ignition module's passlock sensor. The system senses a correctly cut and grooved ignition key has been inserted, and when the switch is turned the passlock controller sends the a signal to the BCM. The BCM sees the correct signal and triggers the PCM to allow the fuel to flow, ignition to spark, and engine to start.
Older passlock systems did use a resistor, it was quite noticeable. Looked like a little black square wart on both sides of the key.:D
Dealer did just what dealers do, charge customers full price for the part. :(

Quit bitchin', the PK3 key is the least expensive of the new anti-theft systems employed by OEM's. I know that a Volvo key I just had sent to me (took a week cuz it had to be matched to the VIN) cost $140 and that was wholesale!
The cheap Home Depot spare key days are over.

No kidding. The key to my ex's land cruiser was $300 bucks from the Parts dept, and $50 more to program the darn thing :(

Now you can see why there are so many Car jackings....!!! The rides are becoming harder and harder to steal. The best Anti Theft device is a BFH..Or a tire Iron or a Club ..not the one that goes on the steering wheel..!!
And..if you have a carry permit.. your all set...BAM..!!:D

If you lose both of your original Saab keys, you have to get a new computer installed in your car at a cost of about $900.

Could you please be more specific..
are you saying a B110 curtis blank will start an H-3 without being cut???
or
cut a B110 curtis blank from an original H-3 key and that will work

I've moved like 5x and haven't lost my 2 H2 keys yet. You just need to be more responsible! haha. BMW and MB keys cost a forture too, so $60 bucks really isn't bad at all.

From reading the thread and having some experience in cutting keys. He is saying that the blank is a curtis B110. You still need to get the key cut to your original.

BTW, an H2 compatible blank is like $2-3.
