Anyone upgraded to leather after the purchase? What are my options. I really wish I got leather and a sunroof. The sunroof I can do without, but I miss the leather seats:( . I'm actually considering trading it in on a new one but am afraid to know the hit I'll take money wise.

You'd really consider trading in your H3, with all the aftermarket stuff you've put on, just to have leather???? Your H3 looks great (remember I saw it at the dealer?)! I'd think a trade-in, just after a year, would hurt a lot. :crying:

Id probably strip most of the extras off 1st. I know it would be painful to the wallet, I have almost 30k miles in one year and paid way too much for the truck to begin with. Anyone familiar with katzkin interiors, I think one of us used these guys for a new interior.

Trading in after a year you would definitely take a big hit! I do love my sunroof!

check with some of the local car stores. we have a company that is ordering and installing after market leather for us. about a grand for both rows, you just dont get the heat or the power. the leather is a perfect fit, good quality and more choices than the factory.

Didn't we all! :crying: We all wanted to be the first on the road with the 'newest' Hummer! Good luck to you! You're right .. someone here had replaced his cloth seats with leather, but I can't remember who it was. All I remember is that he was having trouble connecting up the electric seat controls..it wasn't a good match in that respect (wiring). I never did see the update. Why don't you talk to the Parts Dept. Mgr at the dealer, find out who their supplier is and take it from there? We have leather and sunroof .. can't imagine being without either. :D

God for bid I should say this but....Maybe a check of the local Crash yards might uncover a wrecked H3 with Leather seats. Just unbolt and carry away..

Excuse me now.....I have to go was my mouth out with soap and bash my fingers with a hammer for saying and typing ..Wrecked Hummer H3:crying:

Anyone ( F5) know if it's possible to hook up the auto seats and heaters on the E BAY ones if I don't have them know?

I know this is a little dated, but others may be interested as well to know the answer.

Yes, you can install factory power seats in your vehicle even if it didn't come with them. I don't know if the harness is in place, but it's not hard to run wires under the seats if needed. It just needs an acc and b+ wire. You can ground to the floor pan.

I've installed katzkins in a past vehicle of mine and bought their seat heater and massager package. The leather is very high quality and it only took an afternoon to get everything installed.

Here is a place that covers Vette seats. He does outstanding work and most of it is custom. He may consider doing Hummer seats if you contact him.

I estimate at least a 30% hit.

As far as aftermarket leather there are several companies around the U.S. that will do it.

BUT

if you want power seats with leather then you gota buy them from GM or a junk yard

E X P E N S I V E !!!

As far as purchase price for a new vehicle, I have N E V E R paid over factory invoice. You have to do your homework and plan ahead.

Now if your young and pennyless than theres a problem or if you live 500 miles from the closet dealer...

Here's a website showing how a full seat swap, cloth to leather was done.
It's the last project at the bottom of the webpage:

Yea i had to have a truck with leather. I would recommend swapping out your cloth for the factory leather than going aftermarket, only because every aftermarket job i have seen does not look very good.

:iagree: The aftermarkets I've seen (I saw two) were different quality and you could just tell they weren't factory. (BTW hmrlvr, how's your boat doing? Has it been christened yet? :D )

I'd have loved to bid on the leather in that ebay auction however I'm not sure if it's worth it. The seller claims the seats were removed before much mileage was put on the H3- but the one is damaged. I'm just wondering how well they'll hold up.

Have you seen MTV's Pimp My Ride? That guy at West Coast Customs reuphholstery all those seats. I bet you could find someone similar to do a nice custom job with leather and probably accented inserts, etc. You could have one unique H3 that would be cheaper than getting a 2007.

A quick search showed a few hits, e.g., Auto Interiors (http://www.autointeriors.biz/Seats/Reupholstery/Reupholstery.html).

Dani, are those the same H3 seats that have been on e-Bay for awhile now .. the ones where the drivers seat has some damage to the leather? If yes, then obviously there's more to that problem than meets the eye.

This might be cheaper.

I guess I'm just too picky. I refuse to spend $777.77 on a "cover". I'm hoping to find some that have the heated seat/power options. I searched completed auctions and it seems as though a complete set of leather seats isn't really all that expensive.

Someone had posted awhile back that they couldn't get the power hookups lined up correctly on an aftermarket. I don't know if he/she ever got that problem resolved.

Here's the thread you were mentioning Humm3 (I think)

Installed Factory Leather Seats (http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17639&highlight=leather+seat)

Oh, well posting this was useless. The link to his photos is already posted...

I guess this is a pad then... :D

Why want leather. It makes your legs sweat and stick to the seat when its warm. The leather needs care and cracks anyway when its old. If it gets nicked or cut is hard to repair.
Cloth is a better solution. :grouphug:

I disagree... Live in Miami (HOT & HUMID)
Have 2 H-3's for 10 months and wear shorts 97% of the time...
Solution: TURN ON THE A/C

Yes Leather needs some care

AND

so does cloth (cleaning, tear repair, hoover) ETC...

Cloth seats hold odors ... cologne, perfume, garlic chicken, chinese foods, any take-out... IMO. I had leather seats when I lived in Miami and never had sweaty legs when the a/c was on. :D

ROFLOL .. I thought it looked funny right after I clicked on "Submit Reply". :D You can always go into someone's cloth seated vehicle and tell what they've had in there ... food smells lingering, cologne/perfumes, old socks, whatever. :giggling: I've never had that problem because I've always had leather seats in my vehicles, except when I was in high school. :giggling:
