I just put a K&N air charger in today....I just hope it holds up when I go mudding. I also bought a dry charger for it form them also, which is supposed to prevent the filter form getting wet. It's a water repellant cover for the filter.

How you like it so far?
I'm undecided between K&N and Volant
K&N looks like it would be able to ?provide? more air, as there is no restriction from box.
But Volant protects filter from mud.

You all should check out all the OLD posts about K&N and the other after market Cold Air systems.

Remember the H-3 already gets cold air from under the right wheel well, not from under the hood...

I have a K&N 66, new in sealed box, for the H3 if anyone wants it for the posted price. I still have it posted in the classifieds.

As far as performance, I think there is much more response - albeit it slightly noisy.

Trying to pull extra HP from an Air Filter on your 5 cyl POS engine just proves how stupid Hummer owners are.

always there with wonderful insight, how do you do it with your head so far up your ass?

I use a really good MagLite :jump:

Who is this Hamster character anyway? I never see his actual posts, just users quoting him/her/it.

Great idea on the dry charger. I have the 77 series K&N intake and just ordered the dry charger. I was also concerned about possible mud and or water on the filter. I thought about closing up the gaps between the heat shield and the engine compartment, but this will solve those problems. I am very happy with my intake, it is noticeably louder during heavy acceleration, but quiet when cruising. It does make a difference in the get up and go.

I went through some kinda deep water this weekend and a mud pit. The engine compartment is totally trashed and dirty except the for K&N area it is actually somewhat clean. I had no problems at all.

:iagree: I just went through some mud today. The heat shield did it's job. The rest of the engine compartment was dirty, but no problems with the air filter. :excited:

I used my drycharger filter today on my intake. It did it's job! Very little gets past the heat shield. I did not notice any power loss with the dry charger on, but the intake seemed to run quieter than usual. I am very pleased with the intake and the dry charger! :dancingbanana:
