The color match grille is available in every color but shadow green??
WTF?

I know just line-x it... but I live in BFE and would have to drive over an hour to find someone to do it, then I would have to match everything else to the line-x, e.g. hood vents, brush guard etc.

Can the chrome grille be painted professionally? will a new finish work on that material? that would have to be less than $400, the cost of a new grille.

You can't paint chrome; unless you sand it rough

and

There goes your cost

The color match grille is available in every color but shadow green? Yeah WTFO -- that is strange. An auto body shop can get the discontinued color for you. Getting a body shop to get it for you to do it yourself will prob take a bit more effort. If you decide to do it yourself, there is another recent post, here in the H3 section, that I put on about painting chrome. The bumper could be removed (without affecting the driving of the vehicle too adversely) allowing you to work on it, take it to a shop, or UPS it off to a shop.

Here (http://www.gmaccessories.net/longautomotivegroup/) are some of the colored grilles ... minus shadow green.

Good luck with your project.

I would have a shop do it. What I don't know is if it can be done well by any good shop or will the finish just disintegrate after a year and I'm out the $$. I think what I'm hearing is that it needs to be sanded, blasted or roughed up first and then the paint job will work. Is that the deal?

Here (http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20930&highlight=painting+chrome#6) is some previous info I posted on painting chrome. I'd recommend the body shop too for the best results. Lund Hummer's body shop in Arizona do this often. (I forgot to look where you are located.)

Any body shop can prep and paint over the chrome. I had the grill, front, and rear bumpers painted on my Dakota SLT and there were no issues with them for the 4 years I had it after.

My LineX gal said in order to do my grill she would have to encase it or the stuff would not stick to plastic. Is this the case Neocon?

It's not chrome, it's plome. All they have to do is scuff it up with some 50 grit. It will stick fine.

Have her call Eric at the Rocklin shop. He'll explain it to her.

That's what they did with mine. They sprayed the backside of the grill with 1-2 coats also to ensure it wouldn't peel off.

I have an extra grille you can have for $50 plus shipping if you want it. Than you can send that in to have it done without having to remove yours and let your truck sit while driving. ...just an idea if your truck is your daily driver;) .

Denver. CO.

We put a black grille on the H3 and I have the chrome one in the factory box the balck one came in. The mag chloride gave this grille lots of copper marks and has some rock dings, but is perfect for getting painted or rhino lined.

Shipping to East coast was $118.67 at the cheapest and was UPS ground. If someone has their own shipping account for any carrier, I can drop it anywhere for them to make it easier/ cheaper. I want this thing out of here. It takes up waaaayyy too much room.

I got an E mail saying to try DHL too. It sound like it should be cheaper that way over UPS.

PM me whoever is interested. First PM willing to pay the shiping and $50.00 gets it.
