Anyone bought one of the Garmin units and if so, which one do you recommend? I've been looking at the eTrex Venture CX.:beerchug:

I have a Garmin 2610 which is a few years old... the Garmin 2700 series and alike are very nice... I love mine... touch screen, color with night time dimming... I think its one of the best... but then again there are a ton of them on the market now... a friend has one (forgot the make) that has a suction cup on the windshield that also can get XM radio.... so there are many options, just figure out what you need and your price range... then buy...

The legend is more designed for hiking than for use in the car. It can be used, but the screen is pretty dang small.
If you are looking for a GPS that is handheld and will be used for hiking, then I highly recommend the 60csx. It has the new SiRF III chip for greater accuracy and for linking to satellites a lot faster, it can last up to 16 hours on a set of rechargeable AAAs, great color screen, waterproof, sandproof, and can use up to a 1 gig memory chip.
I was highly impressed with mine in Utah this year, especially compared to the POS magellan I had that was three years old and literally fell apart in my hands before my trip (giving me time to purchase the Garmin).
Here is a great site for info on different GPS units:

I have had 5 different Garmin units. I found the hand held pc with the Garmin GPS one of the best. It's in 3d for GPS navigation. You can put all your music files on it and use it like an ipod. It will store and compute anything your home pc will. It mounts easily in the car. When you're not using it you can take it with you.

You can also get the palm pilot version

I hadn't looked at this after finding the eTrex CX, but I think I've changed my mind. Thanks for all the info.:beerchug:

What are you going to use it for? Off-road or as a Nav system. I have the Garmin C330. Works awesome. Built in map and POI's, touch screen, and a sexy british chick tells me where to go. For Off-road I use the Garmin V. No longer available. Sad. It's a great unit. Get one if you can.

The Garmin 60csx with the topo software will take care of all your off-road needs.

I have a 376C. What do you want to know/do with it?
I use mine in the boat, on the bike or in the truck. It replaced my 276C.
Basically, they are the same unit with the 376C having XM radio capabilities.

Excellent (for my use).
