So my wife got me an XM radio reciever for Christmas, and I'm due to have it installed tomorrow. Where should I have them install it, on the overhead console (SUT with sunroof)? That's where the Car Toys sales slug told her they put them in H2s...you know, the whole "We do them all the time" sales pitch.
Thanks,
Pete
Your factory radio should be set up to accept XM! Shouldnt it????

I suck at that kind of work, so I'd prefer to have it done. Can you just tell me where you think the best place to mount the receiver would be?

Push the band button and see if goes to XM.
By your screen name "sut". Im assuming you have a sut, so its atleast an 05 so im sure you will be able to recieve XM

Yeah, it's an '05 SUT, but all I have are FM and AM band selections...and there's no XM antenna on the roof.

Tell them to install a TURK XM kit then there is no question where you mount it.Because it will play through your radio head.An antenna will be added by running the wire up the A pillar out through the clearence lamps.

Just reread your post............You have the head unit already.Sorry take it back and get a reciver that connects to you stock radio head.
I never had a sky2 installed here so I wouldn't know where to mount it.
Sorry Pete should have read you post closer and not wasted you time.
(take it back)

Hey PG, no need to apologize, you weren't wasting my time...I appreicate all the input I can get!
I took the truck in just a couple of hours ago, and when they couldn't satisfy me with a good mounting position, I returned it for a refund. I'll look into that Turk unit you mentioned...THANKS!
