Wanted to let everyone know I am getting closer to purchasing a H3! I have some questions though!
1. What is new in the 2008 model? I know about the engine option, but is there anything else?
2. If there are major improvements or changes, should I wait until July or August for the new model year? If not, should I just go for it on the 2007 model?
3. I realize there are going to be some price changes, but does anyone know if they are going to be dramatic?
It's amazing how much one knows just by reading the brochure, the website, and most importantly this forum! The dealers know a lot, but not as much as the guys (and gals) in here!
I almost got into it with the salesperson yesterday on the subject of the curtain airbags. They continued to tell me that these are NOT side impact, only for rollover. I vaguely remember reading that it IS for both side impact and rollover from a post that f5 wrote.
I already have my supplier authorization code! :excited:
As always, thanks for the great information!

Main differences between what is called side air bags versus roll over air bags:
Side impact curtains stay inflated for only a second or two, while rollover curtains stay inflated for around 10-20 seconds depending on the type used.
True rollover curtains only have a rollover sensor. However, a side/rollover system has a rollover sensor, as well as side impact sensors.
On the H3, the rollover sensors is under the console, while the side impact sensors are in each front door.
As for prices, I have no idea.

Some new features comming is any H3 built after Feb. 1st will have rear child locks and new switch positions on ( I believe) all doors. 2008 will also have roof rail aibags standard. There will be 3 new colors as well as several colors going away. As far as pricing goes, we don't normally know for a few weeks after we start building new models

Defintly go with the curtain airbags, I mean for $450 your sooo much safer, way i saw it was Id rather spend the 450 and and hopefully never have to use them, than not to get them and god forbid have to use them, so thats defintly an option would recommend, as for what H3 Builder those are the changes we know of so far, also im not sure about this but i heard that the window buttons will be in a more convienient loaction.

I'd wait and risk the lower value when I sell my Xterra if there was a desert tan/brown style color coming out!

01-28-2007, 05:58 AM
ZGXtreme that would be awsome if Hummer did come out with that, but they had a Desert Sand color on the H2 and took it away so it makes me wonder if they would make it for the H3 at all.

Wait for the 2008 and maybe you can get the V 8 in it.

It's interesting you mention the V8; I was in the dealer on Friday and they told me that the V8 option will be FIFO in a way with a list of people desiring that option! I spoke to my GM friend this weekend at a cigar tasting event and he said that there will be a higher amount of V8 H3's built as the production cycle gets hot! So while the first statement is true, it won't be difficult to get one as the 2008 model year progresses. Hopefully I explained that correctly!
By the way, it was a Cusano event at the Outlaw Cigar Company in Kansas City! :excited:

I guess when the V 8 does come out our little engine will really make the 06 and 07 H 3 decrease in value.Cant be that much more when they come out with the V 8.

rumors rumors. dont you people learn. This has been said over and over. How many times did the v-8 come out in the h3 already. Its not comming in 2008 either. Why would they bother so soon. Yea you wait for that v-8 buddy. People have been waiting since 06 now. It should've come out like 3 times already. Im sure they'd redesign a whole new engine for the H3 when its selling so great and they are having a million other problems with the trucks that they need to adress. I bet these wonderful differentials would do great with a v-8 to eat right threw them. Everyone knows someone in gm whos grandmothers uncles son talked to a head of some department that says so. So wow it must all be true.

I am amazed by this and many threads here! I asked several clear, logical questions, backed by my current knowledge, and I get many interpretations and responses. Simply amazing!

pricing...if they do release a V8, it will be priced as a fully loaded package (I bet). That appears to be the with GM marketing lately. Loaded I mean like with the luxury package.
Base models would probably get the current I-5...I guess.
Would be interesting to find out what GM prices the V8 at, if it does come out:fdance:

I know I am stirring the pot, but when I bought my H3 I heard rumors of a v-8 in an alpha version of the H3. Which would warrant a much higher price tag. Of course I have no timeline for such a model, and this was over a year ago.

Too funny f5!
One thing I am concerned about is that some of the reports out there state that a conceptual 2008 H3 Alpha with new engine will be the Hummer "Street" version. Why? WTF is GM thinking? Taking a Hummer and for all intensive purposes making it into a "Mall Rated" Hummer aka Jeep.
On the flip side, I am seeing some of the concept Hummers and they look pretty cool, which would make me think that there are going to be some pretty cool changes in 2008 and in the future.

IF...the reported Alpha is only a street version this will be two hits against Hummer for me. One was Desert Orange only in the Mall Rated version, the other would be the Alpha being a Mall Rated option only. This would put me over the edge, and probably right into a Desert Green Rubicon Unlimted 4-door Jeep.
However, I hope marketing is not that brain dead. The paint color made no sense; especially since they have approved Desert Orange for the H3. However, if they do release a V8 and it is only in the Mall Model, this will be me over the edge.
My personal opinion is the Alpha will be a fully optioned out H3 (aka Luxury Package with optional V8). I'm sure they will offer bling as options such as lower ratio tires, chrome anything, but I would hope they would also offer an off-road package. However, I have no idea how they will market a V8, if they even release one.:giggling:

there are no new options for the engine. This is all rumors started by people based on nothing. There is no v-8. So they had a V-8 H3 running on E85 at sema. Theres a lot of stuff at sema that doesnt come out. I seen E85 everything. I seen a hydrogen hummer. I seen a jeep with 2 engines and quad steering. I seen a twin turbo hummer once too. What happend to that? This is dum. Im sick of the V8 rumors. I got the car when it first came out and everyone was saying the same thing. And everyone had some kind of inside information that they werent supose to talk about. Its not happening this year either. A few months ago everyone was saying the h3 x had a v8. Having already seen it at the ny auto show and confirming it didnt have an 8 nobody believed it didnt even after i seen it. Im not running with these rumors anymore. Since nobody in the supposed know can spit it out here, I will. My reliable source says to expect the V8 H3 in 8 months. So that would be about October/November of this year. I'm marking my calendar.:)
I think you meant to say ordering in June/ July? That's the "word" that I was given.
