anyone install the Jimmi' Jammer plates to prevent people from breaking in though the door handle? just wondering how hard the install was? thanks

My only complaint with this product is this.

Ok, say that you install this product. It WILL prevent a thief from breaking into your car via the door handle.. BUT here are the results.

First, this product requires you taking the whole door apart so you can mount this piece on the back of the door bucket. Atleast an hour per door.

So lets say a thief tries to break in. First, they are still going to break your door bucket, and due to the jimmy jammer, they are also probably going to mess up the paint on the door panel, just because they are only going to try that much harder, probably because they dont realize that you have the jimmy jammer.

At this point, they are pissed, they have spent plenty of time trying to get in... why not just break the window of the car, get in and get what they want.

So, best case scenario, you spent atleast 4 hours on putting this product on your car (1 hour for each door) + the cost of the jimmy jammers. A thief tried to get in, broke the door bucket and gave up. Now you have to buy a new door bucket, take all the cr*p apart again, the put in the new door bucket (which probably costs about $60.00 for the door bucket.

You have spent all that time and everything, only to basically cause yourself more labor.

Worst case scenario. You spent the 4 hours plus the cost of the jimmy jammers. They try to break in, break the door bucket, no luck, keep messsing around, mess up the door panel, give up, break the window, steal your stuff (maybe even the car). Assuming they dont steal the car, you now have a messed up door panel, broken door bucket, broken window, AND stolen property.

IMO, I would honestly just buy the METAL door buckets the first time around. SMA used to make black chrome ones for the non blingers, and I am sure you could powder coat the chrome ones if you really wanted a flat black or something. Then tint your windows, and get an aftermarket alarm.

This way, a thief wont even try the door bucket break in. Hopefully they see the light of your aftermarket alarm blinking, and if your windows are tinted, they cant see any of your goodies inside, and will hopefully just move on to another vehicle.

I view the metal door buckets, alarm, and window tinting as PREVENTATIVE measures, where the jimmy jammer is just a glitch that happens after they have already tried to break in...

It seems to me like it saves a lot of time, damage and heartache to just spend the little extra up front.

Granted, there are lots of theives out there and we can't necessarily stop anything, but we can atleast try our hardest.

Ummm, one problem with Matts anolgoy - they can and will break in with metal billet door buckets and do much more damage than without!!!!

...Happens just as much with billet buckets, only there are fewer with the billet buckets

X2 The Viper logo flashing thing is very bright.

FWIW I had a Viper alarm and liked it.
