With the V8s coming out I know the I5s are going to take a hit. So if you have traded in your H3 in the past or know someone who has. Please post what they got for thier H3s.

I think the hit is going to be bad.:crying:

As of 4-18-07 I have had trade in offers as low as $22500 and they said my 3 was in fair to good condition. WTF are they kidding me! 26K miles, Not a single scratch or ding, interior still smells new. I have over 7K in add on's. I know I will lose on that. The highest I have been offered was $25500. With that said if you look on www.autotrader.com in the 32952 area code and select 100 miles for surrounding areas you sill see asking prices from 29K to
35K. I am asking $34K with all the shiat left on and 31K with it all taken off, Except for the Wheel setup and strobes.

I want to sell mine myself and keep that money for me.

The resale value is already bad, even before the mention of V8 Alphas. And it will only get worse towards the end of the year. http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif

Unfortunately adding accessories/mods does very little to improve resale value. But if you enjoy them, then it's worth it.:D

I hope you are not looking for optimism here....Dealers are not stupid, especially with sites like this out there.

Let me tell you how I would expect to see this go down. If you trade right now, on a 2007, you will probably do OK. Once the Alpha is out, and you go to trade ANY model in on an Alpha, you will be asked to bend over and smile about it. They will have all the leverage.

Good luck with your sale (you are going to need it)

Any dealer will stick you on a one or two year old trade in. Wether it's a Hummer, Chevy, Ford, or Chrysler for what it's worth. Bottom line is you need to sell it outright if you're planning on unloading your Hummer. The dealer will never do you any favors, even if you believe they are. Trade in will always be $5-$7K lower than market value. They need to make a buck on the resale too. If they're giving you what you want on the trade in, they're probably making plenty on the sale of the new vehicle.

I'm not so sure the rollout of the Alpha will drastically effect the value of our I5's. Yes some, but not much. I see the Alpha as sitting in a class of it's own. Unless priced comparably to our I5's, which you know it won't be, it will be in an entirely different pricing market. A lot of people out there want an H3 but cannot afford them new and surely cannot afford a new Alpha, so the used market will still be there for us. Just not a good trade in market.

I agree that the Alpha by itself will not drastically affect trade-ins for all I-5's, my point is that if you bring your shinny, almost new H3 to the dealer to trade it in on an ALPHA, they are going to take you to the cleaners. Best option is to definately sell it outright yourself.

Wow, and based on actual facts. No doubt trading in nearly new vehicle (1 or 2 years old) is very expensive.

For example, say your 06 H3 is completely paid for and you trade it in for a new H3 Alpha:

Trade-in value $25,000
New H3 Alpha price $45,000
Difference is $20,000 cash or car loan

That's one damn expensive $20,000 upgrade to a V8. Selling it yourself, might net you $5K more for the trade if you're lucky. No thanks, no rush to do that.

What you (anyone) paid for you truck mans nothing......

NUMBER 1 thing to remember list price means NOTHING... in sales list is known as "once upon a time" as in a fairy tale or "this is no chit" as in @#$$^&((*_%$^@#~#%

Aftermarket add ons, well grab the lube tube

What counts is
1. the current dealer invoice on your set up
2. current or recent incentives
3. condition inside as well as outside
4. miles
5. demand for used HUMMERS in your area
6. colour
7. leather or cloth
8. how close to the end of model year is it (makes the used another
year older and who knows what incentives will be on the leftover
NEW older model)

once you have factored in all that info, then allow for a dealer to sell your trade for a decent profit (in his eyes) which is a MUCH HIGHER PROFIT then on a new HUMMER, the person who buys used wants a big enought price difference between new and used to see a big savings. EX: New $38000 USED $34000, the used will never sell...
Now if its priced at $30000 then there is an $8000 saving for the used buyer: bingo a sale is made

Remember many (not all nor most) dealers will have some type of warrenty on a used HUMMER. Will you as a private seller give a warrenty? NOT!!!

Selling off you add ons is logical unless you have a BIG MOUTH BASS close by...

Bummer, sorry to hear about your injury. Was it golf, tennis, basketball, vigourous sex, or something fun I hope?

Can someone explain the descrepincy between the trade in values show in NADA and the Kelley Blue Book? Blue Book (http://www.kbb.com/kbb/UsedCars/default.aspx?linkId=hp_uc_values) shows the trade in on my H3 at $29,200 and NADA (http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-28-0-5000-557-551-59827&l=1&w=21&p=1&f=5004&item=270667572) shows $26,350. Why the huge difference?

Black book is the guide to wholesale vehicle prices, is it not? You're not a wholesaler, stick with blue book. I got $5,500 more than the first number they gave me for my trade, I budged all of $500 through 3 offers and they eventually gave up. :beerchug:
