View Full Version : PREDENTED H3 REAR DOORS BY GM

Picked up my '07 H3 that replaced my gremlin infested '06 ... My son
immediately noticed the RIGHT rear door had dent in the just above the crease ... I found a similar dent in the left rear door
I happened to find the same dents in the same area on my wife's '06 ...
Contacted a professional dent remover who has been in the business for
over 20 years ... He got most of the dent out, but in our conversation he
told me that it looked to him this was from the outter skin being pressed
to the inner door and it would only have happened at the factory ...
Now my question to GM is what are they going to do about this?
You just might want to check your rear doors also
FOOTNOTE:
I was at the Hummer Dealer in Milwaukee last night for
service on my wife's '06 H3, which also has the dents in the rear doors.
EVERY H3 I checked had the dents, some worse than others
If you want to check: Stand infront of your H3 to either corner
take one side step to the left or right and look toward the front
seam of the door just above the crease ... It's there !!!
Now if enough owners complain to GM there will be a resolution
If, not .... The shoddy workmanship will continue ... remember
the brake recall GM is now doing on Chevy pickup trucks covering
10 years worth of production ?
Let's not be a silent majority ... Complain to your dealer & contact GM
Both my '06 & '07 are headed to the dealer's bodyshop for replair
under warranty ... Having done a bit of investigation into this matter
the dealerships are aware of it, but are told by GM not to say or do
anything until the customers complains

Haven't noticed it yet on my 06 H3. I've seen worse on Ford products in late 90's.

And I LOVE these types of posts from newbie TROLLS
4/11/07 Frm a post on "bad head"
I'm told you should be able to tell the H3's that were prone to bad heads
by where the "GM" emblem is located ... The H3's having the GM logo behind
the H3 logo on the door were early production models, and were having to
have the heads replaced ... Later models have it on the fenders ... This is
not an absolute, but something to watch for
4/25/07 From a post on Auto or 5-speed
Berstrom Hummer of Milwaukee has a yellow '06 H3 with the Lux/Adv
MP3 radio / black tube steps / brush guard / 5 SPEED / with under 11K
I had to order it ... Only drawback is that it has a couple of serious quirks
that neither the dealer or GM could or would fix ... at times, when the clutch
is depressed the engine revs to 4K and stays there ... 2nd ... the brakes are
really spungy and never have worked right since day one ...
Now since it was not a "BuyBack" or "Lemon" the title is not branded ... neither
does GM or any dealer has to disclose it ... IF the new buyer asks, the dealer
is required by Wisconsin law to provide the previous owner's name & address
I was going to order an exact replacement, but the yellow is no more
For '08 the replacement color is "Sunset Yellow", which no one seems to
know what color that is ... If it is the color of the "flat gold" I've seen in
pictures of the '08 ... NO thanks
If, you are going to buy a pre-owned vehicle ... always ask to speak to the
previous owner before making the purchase
to the following statement I say, what is the dealers name, and exactly who in the dealership told you this information. Name, and dealer, I can find the phone number real quick. "Both my '06 & '07 are headed to the dealer's bodyshop for replair under warranty ... Having done a bit of investigation into this matter the dealerships are aware of it, but are told by GM not to say or do
anything until the customers complains"

The H3 is far from perfect, but I hate these F'ing trolls who come in to these sites and try and BS people. If this person is NOT a troll, then he will have NO problems posting the name of the person who stated that GM said to keep it quiet. One thing, I doubt if GM (GM Doesn't talk) said it, I could believe a dumb arse zone manager might, but I can't believe it would come from GM as an official statement. Second, I can't believe someone would be so stupid as to repeat a statement like that to a customer. Sh*t, talk about a perfect buy back reason....
So, either this guy is a troll, or he purchased from a dealer that has a person working there with an IQ 100 points lower than my Malamute.

I guess he could be considered a troll, since this is now the second site he has gone to. Lemme check a couple of others.

Well, as the owner of my second H3 (a 2007 to replace a 2006), I'll throw my 2 cents in here.
I could not be more pleased with the fit and finish of my new truck, nor was I at all ever disappointed with the old one. With the exception of the roof trim (replaced under warranty per a GM TSB) and a dead battery (go figure), the '06 truck was reliable and solid. The fit and finish was the best of any vehicle I've ever had (including a 2000 Lexus RX300). The interior remained tight and rattle free in 39,000 miles of use (and several panel removals to install the nav system and backup camera).
Mine was a fairly early production truck (August 2005), with the GM badges on the doors. No "head" problems, no dents in the doors, nothing. I'm sure that whoever buys it will enjoy it as much as I did.
I'm confident the new truck will be just as trouble free, and I might just break tradition and keep it for more than a couple of years (my wife isn't believing that, but we'll see).

Ah yes. Here you are maniac. I've heard so much about you. Too bad about your trucks, I'd recomend maybe you buy your cars at a place that will warrent these minor details for you..... Maybe International Auto's??? I'm sure they would take care of those things for you, especially when you consider that you work there.
