Just got off the phone with my dealer,

I asked if he would exchange my barely used (2 weeks) chrome side steps for a set of rocker protection.
He said he could give me $300.00 for my side steps (worth 588.00 new) and would charge me $550.00 for the pocker protection installed (normally $629.00)

Question is two fold:
yes? or no?

and

does anyone want to buy my chrome side steps?????? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Does not sound like a deal to me. Look around and I am sure you can get a better deal on the rocker protection and sell your side steps yourself. Just my 2 cents.

Edit: Just looked at the price sheet my dealer gave me and they want $899 for rocker protection and it doesn't say installed http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
Do a little shopping around, I know my dealer is over priced on pretty much everything.

So you would be out a ner $250.00? That's not too bad. I think the best you could do on those steps used is $400.00 IMO.

He said he was giving me a deal on the rockers, I believe him. Question is, where do I look around? Should I call other Dealers? This service/parts person did not ask if I purchased from them.

You should take a look at h2parts.com, they have the some of the best prices in OEM parts for the H3

If you were to purchase elsewhere, can you put everything on yourself or have somebody do it for you? If you are going to pay somebody to do it, then maybe the dealers offer would be the best for you. I know you can find the rocker protection cheaper but then you have to install.

You can buy factory side steps all day long off of ebay for $200.00

I'd take the $300.00 and buy the rails....you'll like the look much better if you're already considering the swap.

I can put them on myself, not a problem, have tools, have pecs http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Do I want to? Is it worth 50 bucks. Si.

Thanks for your input, I think I'll go with the Dealers offer.

But I'll check ebay too, as long as they are not a lighter weight rocker ...

You guys are great. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I got my chrome side steps replaced with rocker panel protectors at NO CHARGE by my dealer.

They took the chrome ones and ordered me a set of rock rails.

That's what I call a good deal.

Tell your delaer this and call him a cant!
