Ok, I need some help because I cannot seem to make up my mind...I have done alot of searching around here for different ideas but I just cannot decide if what I am wanting will look good.

This is what I am wanting to do:

Line-X the chrome grill (I am thinking that black would look the best but what about doing it the color of the body, Boulder Grey?)

Line-X the front and rear fenders (again, I think black would look best but not sure)

Now, this part I am not sure about at all...Line-X the "lower" grill the same color as the body???http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/texasrtr78/Picture057copy.jpgody

I photoshoped this idea and it almost looks like a "mask" when done that way I want but I just dont know.

What do you guys think? Please give me your suggestions/opinions.

Thanks,
Angela

Grill - yes

Fenders - maybe, color-matched would look good (if available)

Lower grill - NO!!!!:twak: Unless you keep it black.

I've been thinking about doing my fenders, since they're already all scratched/scuffed. I want to do color-match, but there aren't any places nearby that can do it. And I'm not sure I'd like how the black fenders would look with the grey.

There's pics of a white one in this thread to give you an idea how it'll look.

I think the monochromatic thing would look great.

Line-X can colormatch. If you had them colormatch the fenders to the other body plastic,(bumpers, roof rails, A pillars, D pillars etc. I think it would turn out fantastic.

Here is the thread on my truck, it shows all the pieces I did...

Like I said, if you did the same in a color matched grey, I think it would look sweet.

Thanks for responding, guys!

Sewie, my rear fenders are rock chipped pretty bad, too...this is the main reason I am wanting to do this...also, the white H3 you posted the link to is pretty cool...I really like the way the black contrasts with the white...I think they got a bit carried away with the handles, etc., though. OH, and OK...I wont be Line-Xing the "lower" grill...LOL! :o

Bebe, YOUR RIG LOOKS FANTASTIC!!! Congrats on such a great job! The more I looked at your pics the more I decided that I wanted to do the same but in the body color Boulder Grey (if I can)...but, I think I want to do the grill in the same color instead of black...my hubby thinks the black grill would be too much black on the front...I dunno though...wadda u think??? Would it be too blah to use the body color for the grill or should I go black with grill and do the fenders in the body color??? I value your opinion based on how well you did with yours. Again, great job!

Thanks again, guys!!

I think if you did ALL of it the same color, and added the SMA brushguard in black (or any brushguard) that would balance out the grey.

I can't wait to see it now...:D

Where in TX are you? Check out the line-x web site and find a shop that can do colormatch.

Line-x does color match? How cool it that!!! And here I thought it was only black. :o

I agree with Bebe....go for the boulder grey color. That will look sweet! I think I would still got with the black on the chrome grill though.....only to carry out the black on the rest of the rig (mirrors, roof rails, etc). It'll bring it all together.

Post pic's after you get it done. I've got a grey 3 too, and I'd love to see how it turned out.

Good luck with it, which ever way you go! :beerchug:

Bebe, I checked out the linex website...they dont really say anthing about colormatching that I could find...their is a dealer located in Odessa (I live in Midland county) so that's good. I pulled up their website and it says to call then for an appointment..I will call them today!!!

About the all one color then add the brushgaurd...GOOD IDEA! I have been wanting a gaurd of some sort...just hadn't decided what yet...I am REALLY wanting the H3 Winch Bumper from Boulder Accessories...I dont think it is available yet...there is not one out there that is even comparable.

I am also thinking about having them line-x the lower side panel of the body...kinda like this...wadda ya think?

Call these guys, Line-X of North Texas : http://www.linexnorthtx.com/about/

I would try to match the existing grey plastic, or spray the plastic.

As for the bottom of the doors, do it, I was planning on getting mine done as well.

Good find!

You can also paint over the line-X.

:iagree: looks pretty good too. My scout was line-xed on the interior, and I color matched it to the paint, or rather had the body shop spray it inside and out when it was painted. :beerchug:

I really like the look of black line-x on the front end. Don't really care for black line-x fenders over light colors, tho. Color match them or go slightly darker than the paint and it'll look great.

I think it's a great idea.
That Line-X look is neat, clean, & functional.

OK, I realize this is somewhat of an old thread, but I thought I would explain LINE-X color matching.

Some dealers offer it, some don't. If you want black or a color, be sure the dealer is LINE-X Xtra certified. Xtra resists fading and maintains its gloss, is more scratch and stain resistant, and contains a Kevlar micro pulp for extreme durability.

I don't have any Hummer pics now, so I'll show some trucks. I will have a LINE-X'd Hummer pic by next Monday.

Here's sort of a closeup of color matched Xtra. The liner is thinner and does not have much texture, both appropriate for this application:

When I had my original grill bumper fender skid plates on I linex all of it. It was pretty cool and I got alot of compliments. I have since replaced them with road armor front and rear that comes in black and still had them linex. I am sold on the stuff. Wont have to worry about paint chips anymore that you mentioned .. Much more durable and rugged

There are a couple of ways, to upload directly from your computer click the paperclip button in the advanced reply window.

Another way is to open a free account at photobucket and upload your photos there. Then copy the direct link address and click the mountain image (insert image) icon in the advanced reply window. Then paste the address into the box.

I think I like the white with the black rhino liner. I'm thinking about doing it to now. Maybe do the fenders and the bottome 12"s along the rockers. ??? Looks good, and it would be a quick fix for the chrome door handles. I think it would like great on the white with tinted windows and the whole black and white scheme with the blacked out interior. hot ****.
