Hey all...just bought my first Hummer ('03 H2) and would like to install a Viper 5500 I have. Does anyone have any experience or maybe suggest some online resources that I can access to install it myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Great site BTW.

If it is an alarm, and you are already asking questions before even getting into it, I would seriously recommend taking it to an installer.
Not only are the H2 dashes hard as hell to take apart, it really probably isnt worth the risk, beause chances are somethign will go wrong, and then you are at fault if something breaks and cant figure it out. Pay some place the 2 or 300 to do it, and let it be their problem

Just don't go to BestBuy!!!!!! They are idiots! Go to a specialty Audio Store.

I've done installs on H2's and it's not fun. I would recomend going to an actually stereo shop where they have a MECP certified installer and getting it done there. If you know what your doing then the wiring isn't too bad it's the removal of the dash thats a pain. If you really wanna do it yourself then here is the wiring. This list tells you the wire function, color of the wire the polarity and the last thing is the location.
The BCM is the Body control module it is located behind the headlight switch area in the dash easiest way to get to it is to remove the headlight switch cluster.
Your also gonna need a Immobilizer Bypass,
Part number:556LW (it's from DEI)
Some notes for the Bypass: The Passlock II wire colors are yellow, orange/black to black, and red/white (not used)
12volts red (40A), red or red/wh (40A)+ ignition harness

These are just what is what and where, how to hook it up is up to you. I am not responsible if something is wired incorrectly this is the information that is given to me by directed who is the manufacturer of the viper. Good luck. Hope this helped.

haveing been the the car biz for over 20 years and seeing the problems a botched or sloppy alarm install can cause I would recomend a pro install shop that will give you a warentee. do some checking and see who's good in your area and than check with the BBB and see if they have had unresolved complaints. if you have a lein on it get Gap insurance and forgo the alarm and let the insurance company worry about it . :violin:

x2 on the pro install. But there are databus modules available, which cuts down on wiring a lot.

as in the DEI 456G GM data interface. yes it will make a neat install with minimal effect on the factory wireing harness. one of the problems with any aftermarket alarm is it makes trouble shooting a electrical problem more involved and with age and vibration they can fail and leave you stranded with your thumb up your a$$.:crying:
