Nightmarish... Maybe a bit of thick bondo will help. So much for the "japanese quality with the rugged look of a hummer" bs.

I'm two for two in the FJ forums.
I responded to that spaz air2air in the FJ forum and the thread was deleted. I went over there later, and there was a post about ME being a troll. I responded to that one, and it too was deleted.

They censor on the FJ forums like crazy. I've had it happen to me also. It appears like they try very hard to protect the FJ's image. I'm not a fan of the FJ's styling at all, but -
"For the record" FJ's don't suck off road. Obviously I would rather drive Hummers but, the FJ is a capable machine. I have wheeled with them and have witnessed their performance (lifted with bigger tires, and stock). For IFS rigs, they wheel OK.
They don't have the great gearing of the H3, but the lighter weight and stronger engine make up for it slightly.
The tearing of the sheet metal is real and a recently found problem. They have also found many of their components i.e. rear diffs and control arms to be weaker than they should be. They found these problems much the same way we found our weak front diff, by beating on them off road.
I realize these vehicles compete with each other to some degree, but I don't need to put down the other truck to feel good about the purchase of the H2 or H3. I am envious of their aftermarket support, much like Jeep.
Dennis pushes the FJ button because he knows it Raaarrrs some of us.

I agree with not putting down other vehicles, to me it makes no sense. But that guy (air2air) came over to one of the other hummer forums pretending that he wanted to buy one. He took read some of the problems some have had and posted them on the FJ forum. Some of the members of the hummer forum found posts made my air2air stating that his FJ broke this and that, got stuck here or there, and posted them.
I went to the FJ forum and saw that he posted a quote from me, and I let him have it, letting him know how childish it was for him to troll other forums, and posted pics of my H3, then the thread was deleted.
I even stated that I considered purchasing an FJ, but decided against it because I liked the H3 better, but that I have nothing against the FJ or toyota's in general.
Then someone started a thread calling me a troll and making fun of me because I workout. I responded and again the thread was deleted.

Nobody is knocking on the FJC, it's more the attitude of some Toyota owners, I think it comes with the brand. A lot of them act as if they're driving God's gift to the automotive industry. They'll talk about Toyota as being the most reliable car company, and everything else is crap. Naturally, when ANYTHING happens, especially of this magnitude, they're just asking for people to point and laugh.

I think the FJ button has been pressed and held so much that it no longer functions.

Point taken. I've argued this same point on their forum. They mostly are of the opinion that Toyota trumps ALL others, ALL the time.
I've also advocated the purchase of American vehicles being good for the American people on their forum. Just like Pool Shark, I've been called a troll many times there. I'm not trolling there, I don't put down their vehicle. I just bring a different perspective to a largely group think atmosphere (Some of them are open minded). The Mods do censor there.
As much of a PITA as Dennis can be, I'm glad they don't here (mostly, except for the pics of Dennis on the wrong side of a winch) :shhh: Didn't someone get banned for that? That is B.S. from here @ Elcova.
We think Hummers are better, they think FJ's are. Whatever, as long as you wheel it - who cares? We each gotta fix our own rigs. In this case it could end up costing Toyota some big bucks and some reputation. Toyota is now trying to build GM type numbers of vehicles, it's a lot harder to control the quality on larger numbers.
I think the FJ button has been pressed and held so much that it no longer functions. :D That is funny. The other day, I counted ten threads over there on the first two pages of "other vehicles", that all put down Hummers in some way.
I hope we don't start looking that insecure.

that doesnt look too good i just told my friend about this. I obviously like the H3 much better than the FJ, but truth is it is a good ride. two of my friends that i wheel with most often have FJ's. One of them is stock. and the other has the TRD edition, a 3" lift and also 33 inch mickey thompson mud terrains on it and that thing is sick. bottom line is the FJ is still a good ride, even though we like the Hummers better

Even though it has the turning radius of an aircraft carrier, needs to be lifted, has no lo lo range tcase, and the things are TEARING apart? Sounds like a good ride to me!?

Huck they make fun of our fellow Hummer owners putting chrome 22's on, and our front diffs exploding, and our 225 horsepower engines pulling our 5000 pound rigs around town, it's all the same thing.

That's too bad. I mean it. I almost got one too. But, in the end, the rugged good looks of the H3 got me. That and it's American. Yee-haw!!:beerchug:
I'd much rather be replacing/upgrading weak H2 tie rods, over replacing my FJ whole front end clip!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot. FJs have like what, double or triple the horsepower of an H3. :giggling: They don't come with 22s.
I think that they're missing something: Alpha H3. Iron front diff, V8, problems solved.
The FJs still have the aforementioned non-offroadish attributes.

Who are you trying to convince? Me, everyone else, or yourself? We all bought Hummers Huck. That should state our opinions clearly enough, without looking like we are driven to convince all the others for our own reasons (whatever they might be).
Many of them do the same thing you're doing. They have many more reasons for insulting Hummers than the few examples I gave above.
My buddies mostly drive modified Jeeps. Jeeps are good off road. We still give each other crap sometimes, but I'm satisfied with the choice of owning an H2 and H3.
If you wheeled with an FJ, and he could do most everything you could do, (and vice versa) probably wouldn't change your opinion one bit. ;)
P.S. I don't buy foreign products when American is available at around the same money.

I had a 1998 Tacoma TRD short bed for 9 years. Best truck I ever owned. Then I traded it in on a 2006 Tacoma TRD Sport Extended Cab with a short bed. I got Donahoe coil-overs up front, Deaver springs and Donahoe res shocks in the rear, BFG Mudder 33's. It has a v6 and auto trans. I love it. My plan is to trade it in on an FJ.... Then I went on the internet and checked out the FJ and the H3 on the internet. It turned out that the H3 is underpowered, overwieght, not a true Hummer, and the interior is ghey. It also turns out, from the internet, that the FJ is Bad Ass, righteous, and more economical. I drove down to the Toyota dealer and start walking around the FJ's, pretty soon there are 3 sales people all over me. I test drive the FJ. I really like it. I start thinking about all the aftermarket parts that are available. How it will look with 35's and all the rest. The sales guy has a set of keys and says, "how about a test drive?" He jumps into the drivers seat and says "get in." After we get a few block away from the dealer he pulls into a parking lot and lets me get behind the wheel. I start driving it around the local streets, so far, so good. I turn to get on the freeway and he says "no, we can't go on the freeway." I think WTF. On the way back to the dealer, I find a dirt side road and start to pull down it to check it out, the sales guys says "no, we can't go down there." I think WTF. Also, I notice when I test drive it that there is no leg room (this is really important to me since I am 6'2". And there doesn't seem to be much room inside. I notice that the interior is pretty utilitarian, but that is cool. It is kind of a throw back to the old FJ... kind of. I start to get the paperwork going with the sales guy. He says it's going to cost me 33k and he can't move on the price. Then I tell the sales guy that I got a call from my wife and have to go, and will be back in an hour to finish the deal, getting off the lot with the sales guy hanging onto my leg is the hardest thing I think I have ever done.....
10 minutes later, I pull into the Hummer dealer lot. I start strolling through the H3's and H2's... there are a couple of H1's. I am walking around opening doors, kicking tires and no sign of a sales person. I walk into the show room, a guy notices me and offers me a cool drink. We start talking and I tell him I was looking at the black H3 Adventure. He says " sign this and give me a credit card, and here's the keys." Somewhat bemused, I take the keys and walk back out to the truck. Off I go. I notice there more room than the FJ and the interior sure is comfortable. After 20 minutes of driving it around the local streets and jumping on the freeway, I cruise back onto the lot. I start pulling the H3 into it's space, and here is the guy from inside. He says "head up the side of the building and give the test track a try." I drive behind the dealership and there is an offroad test course. I goof around for a good 20 minutes, having a blast! I pull back around the front and go inside. The guy notices me and asks me what I think. I tell him I thought it would be more under-powered. He says the he hears that a lot. I say that 35k sure is a lot of money. He says, yeah but that's the Adventure package. He also says that I would get 1k off because I wanted the one with a sunroof. He also says that since the Alpha will be coming out in a few months and it is the last day of the month, the dealer is giving 4500 dollars off. I had pre-approved 6.5 financing from my bank, so 45 minutes later, I walk out the front door. There is the H3, freshly washed. I get in and he explains the Onstar to me. He walks me around to the back of the H3 and there is a set of Hummer rubber floor mats, GM first aid kit, and Hummer hat and polo shirt. I drive of the lot. 5,000 miles later and I'm still smiling. Sorry about the cracking issue on the FJ's. That's my story.

I test drove both the FJ and H3.
Found the ride very similar. Didn't like the "suicide doors" of the FJ.
Also, the front end and dash of the FJ seemed too "plastic-y". :lame:
