hi, this is mario from cologne.
germany.

just bought a h3 (2006) and trying to change the radio.

searched the forum and took all the hints togehter, but something did not work.
in germany, our radios got the iso adapters. so i cut off the original hummer radio adaptor an put the neede wires together.
as i have the monsoon system with amp i did the following.

1. connected the orange wire to my battery + wire and the black/white ground wire to my ground wire. the pink amp turn on wire to the german remote amp wire. radio works. i put both orange wires from the hummer harness together as i thought one is for + all the time and one is for ignition +. but all in all radio works.

an now the problem ...

i read that the the other wires like
1 tan and dark green
2 light green and orange/black
3 brown and dark green/white
4 dark blue and black

are the loudspeaker wires. i connected them to the german iso adaptor in which the loudspeaker wires come in. BUT NO SOUND !!!!

nothing !!!!

and there some wires left in the harness. perhaps for some chimes (door ...) , which i dont need ... ?!
i think it is a problem with the amp.
is there more to connect to the radio from the amp than the pink wire?

or is there a problem, that i connected the hummer loudspeaker wires directliy to the radio. this ist not a loundspeaker input. simply a input for speakers without amp.

or .... do i need a seperate sold adapter for so called "line out signals" front middle and rear, as the amp/radio can not use the wired signal from radio to amp/speakers.

i use part 1 and 2 of pasted image. not the third adapter. perhaps thats the problem ????

totally confused ....

can anyone help .....

mario

You may want to save what you cut off and be ready to put back on with a adapter. It does pay especially if you ever sell your H3 and the new buyer wants portability in using the stock or other standard arrangements.
Some others have looked into doing what you propose and failed...
-Use the Search pull down for additional information under "radio"
Good Luck:D
